Random Tea Room – Mission Statement
The Random Tea Room’s mission is to improve daily tea rituals. Our goal is to make quality international loose-leaf tea accessible, every day in our store, your home or work place.

Tea drinkers, ranging from beginners to connoisseurs, experience a variety of challenges accessing quality loose-leaf tea and herbal blends, learning about global tea options and trends, and connecting with other tea drinkers and the tea community.
Rising to the Challenge – Random Tea Room subscription program solution
The Random Tea Room’s monthly Tea Subscription Service and Refillable Tea Station Program conveniently delivers quality loose-leaf teas and accoutrements direct to customers at their home or workplace. Curated from our expansive collection of teas and herbal blends sourced from around the world, both the Tea Subscription Service and Refillable Tea Station Program includes well known staples as well as custom craft teas.
Monthly Tea Subscription – Designed for home delivery, this monthly subscription service includes 3 1-ounce selections of specially chosen and lovingly packaged loose-leaf teas, curating a tea drinking adventure
Refillable Tea Station – Ideal for businesses, restaurants, and caterers, the Refillable Tea Station includes 6 refillable tea tins, steeping bags, scoops, timer, and instructions stacked in an attractive minimal footprint tea station.
Random Tea Subscription Service – Market Opportunity
Based on our historical customer experience at our store (7,000+ unique customers since 2013), and our current Philadelphia centric focus, we estimate a 2019 market opportunity of 1,000 customers. As we continue to expand our reach into additional markets (including cyber), we envision a significant market opportunity expansion over the next several years.
Random Tea Subscription - Crowdfunding Campaign
While the Random Tea Room (founded in 2008) has an established cafe and retail brick & mortar location, we need to expand our business in a variety of dimensions to successfully launch the Tea Subscription Service and Refillable Tea Station programs. We have identified the following initiatives critical to our success:
Branding – Refresh of the Random Tea Room brand package, emphasizing our expanded capabilities and highlighting our depth of tea knowledge and focus on community
Packaging – Sustainable packaging containers in variety of sizes and specifically designed labels flexible to support the subscription programs
Execution – Website update including the configuration and launch of an online subscription service application and fulfillment platform

What is The Random Tea Subscription Service?
The Random Tea Subscription Service is a monthly tea delivery program featuring a rotating selection of three different teas or herbal blends. Each distribution will be composed of either random selections or a carefully curated collection based on each subscribers preference.
What is the Tea Station?
The Random Tea Station is the base unit for the Random Tea Subscription refillable program. Conveniently sized to fit on a counter-top, the station is designed to hold six tea tins as well as a drawer to store tea accessories, bags, scoop and timer.
Does the subscription service include steeping instructions?
Both the refillable tea tins and the recyclable bags contain customized labels. These attractive directives provide recommendations for steep time, temperature and measurements for leaves.
When does the Random Tea Subscription start?
We are hard at work preparing to launch the service and are targeting the first distribution in April 2019. Please join our newsletter and follow us on social media to receive the latest updates.
What will you be doing with the money you collect?
There are many moving pieces to this campaign and we want to make sure that we've got our bases covered! The graph below is a summary of how we plan to spend the proceeds from this campaign. Everything from sustainable packaging to web design is included in the chart below.
We've just received the compostable bags we've been waiting for to start our subscription service! We got them from @ClearBags and they are made of Kraft paper with an inner plant-based PLA lining. Angela Miles from @CarpeDiemConstructionCo. did a lovely job keeping the design classy. We are looking forward to helping you learn about and love your tea journey, always helping you to Keep It Random!

One of the facets of the tea room is our wellness space that hosts a talented line up of healing practitioners, from massage to acupuncture to vibrational sound baths. With this reward you will receive an hour long session with Rose LaPenta, Rose specializes in Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Trigger Point Therapy, and Stretching with a focus on pain management and rehabilitation including relief from migraines.
GongFu is the ritualized preparation and presentation of tea using Yixing teapots and tiny cups. We will explore Oolongs and Puerh teas with 3 of your friends in our Philadelphia Tea House.

We got together with the Inter-dimensional Sculptor of Space and Time, Candy Coated, to collaborate over tea and musings of porcelain and the land of China. Candy and I came up with a blend for you called Tulsi Rose, a trinity of green and purple leaf Tulsi, Rose petals and buds, a dusting of blue Cornflowers and an extra dose of organic Rose essence.
