WHAT IS LEIGH NY?

LEIGH NY is a made-to-measure apparel brand bridging vintage and contemporary silhouettes.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, Leigh began as an experimental project in product development and strives to make meaningful clothing responsibly; in a classic, sustainable, and refined way.

LEIGH VALUES / ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS:

Our primary brand focus is to lead our production with a low-impact approach. In an effort to incorporate an eco-friendly practice into all aspects of our business, below are details that highlight the process of our product development (each SKU is labeled with the applicable value icons).
 

 

HANDMADE

All of our pieces are made-to-order or produced in small-batch quantities to reduce seasonal deadstock and excess waste.
 

FAIR WAGE LABOR

We work exclusively with a seamstress co-op. All production is manufactured in New York or the home studio of Leigh New York's founder, Morgan Johnson. This enables us to reduce the time, cost, and eco-footprint of transporting the garments. We believe that supply chain transparency, the ethical treatment of workers, and workers' wages are just as important to us as our environmental impact.
 

MADE IN NEW YORK

All of our products are produced in New York. The fabric is sourced in Eastern Asia and Italy and noted on all of the individual product pages.
 

ORGANIC

Natural materials are used in our collections, including organic silk and linen. In fabric selection, we place importance on fabric production and the extent of their impact on the environment. Fabric is plastic-free unless noted by the absence of the organic icon.
 

ZERO WASTE

Since the nature of small batch and made-to-order allows for minimal waste, all of our materials are ordered (or reused) to their optimum level of consumption. Our dream is for no trash to be sent to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean. And we are trying our best.

 

 

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:

- PRODUCT + DEVELOPMENT FOR NEW PIECES (LAUNCHING FEB 2022)! We're just getting started, and we want to offer a more extensive product range outside of our staple pieces. Developing new samples and pieces locally, in NY, is often an expensive and often lengthy process per piece—especially given our small team. We are looking for your help to raise funds to grow our team and our inventory. The more we raise, the more we can create!

- Product sampling

- Refining sizing and fit (extending sizing)

- Sourcing locally

- Manufacturing locally

- Paying seamstress and design assistant equitable wages
