Cinched Collections is an apparel line that is specifically curated and designed with curvy women in mind, including sizes S-5X! The styles are made with additional inches added accordingly for women with prominent bust, thigh, and hip areas. The line includes stylish yet functional tops, bottoms, and dresses. We will eventually expand into swimwear as well!

There is a large disparity between plus and straight sizes in the market, with most retailers catering to one or the other. This brand is diversified by including sizes S-5XL for curvy women, because you can easily be a size 6 or 8 and struggle to find properly fitting clothing. We promote natural, curvaceous bodies as a means to enhance self-esteem in minority women. Curvy women of color are heavily marketed and well-represented within marketing campaigns!

I have 9 years of experience in merchandising and product development. I have worked for various women’s department stores and specialty retailers, including plus size brands in NYC. We as minority women in the fashion industry are often subjected to various forms of discrimination and toxicity from unfair pay wages to social alienation. My goal from an environmental perspective will be to promote equality, reduce burnout rates, and increase cultural acceptance within the workplace. Cinched prides itself in promoting a healthy and inclusive work environment! Many Black and Brown women have also hardly ever felt properly represented in the fashion industry. This brand serves as a means to employ and embrace women of color.

Cinched Collections opens doors by outsourcing and employing people of various backgrounds, especially people of color. The clothing is produced in NYC by a minority-owned manufacturer. Cinched Collections strives to empower curvy women and invest in other minority-owned businesses!

Why We Need Your Help

Cinched Collections launched the first collection entitled, Egyptian Summer, in June of 2021. We have experienced exponential growth since the launch! We enhanced and monitored our social media presence which resulted in an increase of Instagram followership by 38.9% and +10.8K accounts reached within the last 90 days! By highlighting the benefits of our products with key details, such as “4-way stretch fabric” which appeal to our target audience and leveraging social media, we increased online store sessions by 3,492% to date. Your funding contributions will help further our marketing initiatives and campaigns.

We have experienced firsthand the power of using influencer marketing, which resulted in an increase of +65.1% accounts reached and +11.3% followers within just 30 days. We want to continue using these partnerships to expand the brand awareness and display the clothing on various curvy body types and sizes. 

Cinched Collections also plans to participate in more pop-up shops and events with the focus on black-owned businesses and body positivity. Some of these events are local, but some are hosted out of state in areas where our target market heavily resides, such as southern regions. We want to obtain more personal interaction with our consumer base. Our collection is very fit specific and we know that many of our customers have fallen in love with our pieces just by trying them on. E-Commerce shopping is very efficient, but doesn't do the styles enough justice! We plan to rent out luxury boutique spaces and host pop-up shops 2-4 times a year.

We also want to eventually invest in 3D scanner software, so that customers can receive a virtual fitting room experience before making a purchase.

Aside from marketing and direct-to-consumer initiatives, the primary need for funding stems from the cost of production and fabric inventory. Mass production for Cinched Collections is executed by NYC, minority-owned manufacturers. They specialize in quality apparel design development and production. Due to the local proximity, I am able to easily check on the status of production and inspect the clothing during quality assurance.
