There are many rentable photography studios in Ottawa as well as traditional co-working spaces and coffee shops. However, there isn’t a place the bridges the gap between these to fulfill the need for entrepreneurs, those spending a lot of time working from home, and those looking for more than solo time at a non-inviting space. 

It can be frustrating to hop from coffee shop to coffee shop never knowing if you’ll get a table or quiet place to work. Traditional co-working spaces aren’t the right fit for everyone and is excessive for the entrepreneur who doesn’t need an office of their own but instead values the flexibility and community of our non-traditional space. 

For photographers and creators, there is the studio space which can be rented separately so that they have the privacy needed for themselves and their clients. 

In the co-working area there are large tables with Wi-Fi and outlets for working on their projects. People can work alongside others at a communal table to collaborate and exchange ideas or choose the smaller seating area to work solo.

There is also the private room for conference calls, creating video content, recording podcasts, hosting meetings or if they just or need to avoid distractions. Included with the space is coffee and snacks, Wi-Fi and more!

I am seeking funding to get this business off the ground and to have it as a separate entity from my photography business. I will be using the funding towards start-up costs such as renovations, advertising and marketing, equipment and furniture. Once funding is secured I will be in a position to lease the space and immediately take action in bringing it to life. 

My goal is to secure the building and renovate in spring 2024 with the plan to open in summer and be fully operational with clients, members and bookings by fall.

Currently I am the sole team member, but I will be hiring an individual to be in the space to open/close and facilitate anything that arises during the open hours. I will also be there to share in this and keep the day to day running smoothly and the client experience up to expectations.

There will be a vendor directory of local businesses associated with Wonder & Co for clients to utilize and connect with for their own resources and growth.

Long term, we will bring in people to teach workshops and offer these to our clients and members while also providing opportunities to our members to share their business and skills with others through offering their own events.
