WHAT WE DO
Women Who Drone is on a mission to close the gender gap in the UAV industry by educating women & girls about drone technology and empowering them to become licensed, commercial drone pilots.
We do this by providing drone flying workshops, one on one lessons, online courses, news & reviews, career opportunities and a supportive group of women around the world.
THE PROBLEM
Technology and Artificial Intelligence will transform the world globally and drones are already playing a major part of this technological revolution.
Drone technology is already changing the world in the consumer and commercial sectors. Drones deliver medical supplies to people in need, monitor crops in agriculture, survey land, and save lives through search and rescue capabilities. The use of drones will only increase and they will utterly transform society in a positive way.
However, once again, women are at risk of being excluded from another important tech job that pays well, creates stability and choices!
As the drone industry continues to grow, the demand for licensed drone pilots will rise.
Right now, women make up LESS THAN 5% of certified licensed drone pilots in the U.S. and represent only 3% globally.
Once we learned these dismal statistics, we said, "Not On Our Watch" and created Women Who Drone to inspire, educate and empower more women to learn to fly drones, obtain licenses, and join the drone industry.
HOW WE'RE CHANGING THIS...
Women Who Drone is on a mission to ensure that more women are trained and licensed to join the growing drone industry. In the last 12 months:
- We have managed to become the largest online female drone pilot community and have built a community of thousands of followers worldwide.
- We currently have 44 Brand Ambassadors from 23 different countries and 35 different cities who inspire and encourage more women to join this growing industry.
- We were recently featured in Fast Company for taking female drone operation to new heights.
- We have partnered with the largest visual content distributor in the world, Getty Images to offer female drone pilots the opportunity to monetize their aerial content through our Women Who Drone Collection.
- We have been featured in several publications highlighting our mission and education including, DroneLife, Fierce Mitu, DJI, Aerobo, 818 Agency, and UAV Coach.
- We have had women from around the world reach out to us to connect with other female drone pilots and we have had hundreds of women thank us for inspiring them to buy their first drone!
WHY WE'RE RAISING MONEY
We are proud of the work we've done so far, but there is so much more to do! We want to really scale our efforts to educate more women and girls and empower their lives through flying drones.
As a start-up with no funding, the request from women to expand our workshops and provide one-on-one lessons in their cities has been exciting, yet financially overwhelming at the same time. This is why we need your help!
We have been endlessly inspired by the work our WWD Ambassadors are doing with their drones.
Here are a few examples of some of the many projects our women have been working on:
We want to continue to support and and encourage women to use their drones for good and creativity. In order to do this, Women Who Drone requires funding to expand our drone education and tell more stories about women who are flying and impacting their communities worldwide.
WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING
With your help, we will develop our educational programs and obtain the proper insurance to protect our instructors and students during their drone training. Additionally, we are raising funds to create and produce online courses for women to expand their drone skill sets in the commercial space, such as 3D mapping, inspections, construction and agriculture. By contributing, you'll also help us grow the Women Who Drone team and provide more services to our community. This includes:
- Library of educational online courses.
- Member portal.
- Directory of global female Certified Drone Pilots.
- More events and workshops in more cities.
- Creating grants and scholarships to encourage more women and girls to fly drones.

WE HAVE SOME FANS :-)
"I had a fantastic experience with Elena at the Women Who Drone lesson. She was very patience with all my questions and she showed me everything for a good beginning drone experience. I really recommend it not just because you can flight a drone also you can have a great photo or video of NY skyline!"
"Elena was fantastic. She was very accommodating with scheduling and gave us a lot of information. It was great fun and we are looking forward to doing more with drones and with Women Who Drone -what a great time!"
"It was such an incredible experience. It was very professional and they truly knew their craft. They are actually one of the most knowledgeable people for drone flying I've ever met. I would highly recommend this for someone who is just interested in having fun at flying drones or for someone who is looking to get into this as part of their career. Also they were very nice and fun to hang out with!"
"Nice touring around Brooklyn with Women Who Drone's Founder, Elena and many shortcuts on setting your drone. Definitely would love to get my own drone after this cool experience. Love it!"
"Great experience! Elena knows her stuff when it comes to drones. She's very friendly and very passionate about sharing her love of drones with the world. We loved flying the drone and would totally do it again."
