Women in Electrical Engineering
ElectroMosaic promotes women in electronics. Let's show our daughters that they can shine in engineering.
Project Description
Electrosmosaic
Electromosaic is a startup electronics company located in Bucharest, Romania that seeks to promote women in Electronics. Our goal is to manufacture community-strengthening, life-improving products created by women electrical engineers from all over the world.
Even though 20% of graduates earning engineering degrees are women, it is estimated that 40% of those women quit or never enter the profession. In technical fields, discrimination runs rampant.
I want to bring my approach to electronics and that of the women engineers on my team. I have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. When women design new products or services, they bring a different perspective often not considered before. Let's give our girls positive role models! Let's redefine what women are good at! Women are good at math and engineering and together we can prove it!
And now, let me tell you about the company's first product: Mozego. Many more will follow!
Mozego
These days, light displays are extremely common and often boring. Mozego makes them fun and accessible to families. A combination of mosaics and lego, these displays make pictures in windows visible from afar. They enhance creativity and show your community what you are up to.
Children can revel in seeing their creations down the street, lonely or shy people can send messages to neighbors, anybody can enjoy the challenge of making a drawing out of a limited number of lights. Mozego might even prove to be a useful tool when learning to draw as the grid method is a well-known technique in teaching drawing skills.
A message on Facebook can be seen worldwide, by people you don't know. Mozego on the other hand can be seen down your street, in your community. It connects and strengthens communities. If for instance somebody is sick, people can put GetWell messages in their window, an elder person might let the world know how they are. It is a fun way of expressing your feelings (through existing emojis or personal creations).
I need funding to create a more complex prototype. I want to increase the number of lights, add color, and make the model foldable.
Depending on the amount of funding I receive, I can even start a workshop. I wish to hire ten women solderers. Soldering can be taught in a couple of months. I want to buy fume extractors to keep the workers and the environment healthy. At the moment I am looking for other women engineers interested in joining my team. I have had some positive feedback.
If you have ANY questions, please ask them at [email protected].
Don't forget to access our webpages at http://grafitgroup.ro/electromosaic.php and try out the grids!!!
I guess it's time to wrap up. Mega thanks to all those who will pitch in. Together we are unstoppable!
