Wombman Unspoken is expanding into the feminine wellness industry! After almost a decade of blogging our Founder, Adeola Osunlowo, has become a Holistic Fertility Doula—also a Yoni Steam Practitioner, seeking to teach other women how to create their own sanctuary. We strive to help women who are looking for holistic remedies to healing infertility, and vaginal discomfort, and promote overall reproductive wellness, with Yoni care products and coaching.
Why is this work important?
➊ A University of Michigan-Ann Arbor study found that black women were more likely to deal with the trauma of infertility in silence and isolation, often equating their childlessness with feelings of inadequacy about their femininity or the inability to live up to religious expectations.
➋ Research shows that African-American women have a three times greater chance of developing fibroids when compared to Caucasian women.
➌ Fertility Crisis in Flint, MI: When the water was switched to the Flint River in 2014, Fertility decreased by 12% and fetal deaths rose by an alarming 58%
➍ Lack of diversity in lactation and Doula support - culturally incompetent medical professionals risk discriminating against and neglecting the unique needs of their patients (i.e. Black women, Afro-Latina women, women of the African diaspora.)
