Why 

There is a lack of performance arts spaces here in the Excelsior District of San Francisco. Help our black and brown community get access to quality dance education and youth leadership in Rising Rhythm's new building.

What

We are working diligently to solidify a permanent space on Geneva Ave and Naples for our 50+ artists and larger underrepresented community to come back to with proper safety protocol and resources. We aim to have permanent roots in The Excelsior District where we can celebrate the cultural diversity within the E, highlight the uniqueness and authenticity of the dance community in our neighborhood where our founder was born and raised, and  amplify our message with a bigger space and financial support to go deeper into this difficult but rewarding work.

Our Mission

(EST. 2014) Rising Rhythm’s Mission is to be a driving force of inspiration and social change in the bay area community using Dance, music, fashion and artistic expression as the main pipeline. We strive to create works using different processes that allow us to generate new ideas while holding the integrity of our ancestors and master mentors who have paved the way for us. Through this process, we pass down our knowledge and training to our youth company members and open community classes/workshops to cultivate a true arts global family. Rising Rhythm is an emerging Bay Area dance and music performance company for youth and adults.

We believe all people of all ages have the ability to explore and express movement on and off the stage despite any limitations or obstacles they encounter. Rising Rhythm believes in cultivating spaces where we provide mentorship to emerging artists and work with them in fostering their artistic voice.

At Rising Rhythm, we believe in creating spaces where each artist can thrive. Our dancers and musicians go through an intensive training program focusing on choreography, musicality and collaboration. We hold each of our artists to high expectations through a balance of professional rapport and supportive learning environment. Our Rising Rhythm teachers share their knowledge with students in order to foster each unique artistic voice through mentorship.

We collectively channel stories of struggles and victories we all face in our San Francisco and  bay area communities. 

A Message from our Founder

My name is Jessica Maria Recinos. I am 27 years young and an independent, driven Latina entrepreneur who has been actively serving the black and brown community within the Mission and Excelsior District of San Francisco, California through my love for dance and expression. It has been my dream ever since I was 16 yrs old to have my own dance studio for my community to heal through movement. Since 2014, I have been directing my own performance company, Rising Rhythm, from my in home studio, aka my small kitchen! We make it work!

After years of hard work bettering my craft as a movement artist mentor  and dedication to serving  3000+ youth and adults within the past 10 years, I recently was blessed with the opportunity to purchase my building  for Rising Rhythm, in our neighborhood.

Once the Covid19 crisis developed, it jeopardized that possibility.

Throughout the hardships of not receiving any new clients, members or resources from the city to keep my program running during COVID19 Shelter in Place, our mission has remained consistent:  to be a driving force of inspiration and social change in the Bay Area using dance, music, fashion and artistic expression as the main pipeline by providing FREE dance classes online to help bring joy during quarantine and donation based youth dance classes per week to help support their mental health and keep them dancing together!

Fundraising Goals

PHASE #1 PURCHASE BUILDING

$250,000 by May 1, 2023 for our down payment and closing costs for the building.

PHASE #2 RENOVATIONS

$250,000 by January, 1 2024 for total estimated construction costs and retrofitting for 2 studios + one black box performance space. (start construction in Sept 2024)

PHASE #3 YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS

$50,000 by December 2024 for youth company scholarship and Private Training, compensation for contracted teachers and professional guest artists, and a liveable wage for our professional performing artists for 2025.

Please consider making a contribution to our growing creative dance familia as we embark on opening up the FIRST dance studio in the Excelsior District of San Francisco for the community with the intent to support and collaborate with legacy businesses and organizations  in the neighborhood! Monetary Contributions will go towards the development of our new building.
