#whitehairdontcare: Beyond Beauty Standards Documentary
Help me amplify the voices of women embracing their aging selves and challenging ageist beauty standards
Project Description
Hi there!
Welcome to '#whitehairdontcare: Beyond Beauty Standards', a documentary that challenges the beauty industry's billion-dollar hold on women's confidence
Please help me bring it to the world!
Aishah Iqbal isn't your typical filmmaker. With over 22 years as a Marketing Executive in the Advertising industry under her belt, she brings a fresh lens and a passion for sparking conversation to her directorial debut. While new to filmmaking, her instincts as a storyteller are undeniable. Driven by her groundbreaking 100-day TikTok focus group, she's tapped into the burgeoning movement of women embracing their aging hair. Aishah's digital content on the topic has garnered a dedicated following across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
This documentary marks her first foray into filmmaking, yet the results speak for themselves. Her proof-of-concept microdocumentary has already made major waves, earning selection in 9 prestigious film festivals worldwide and scooping up 4 notable awards. Aishah's unique background and keen understanding of how to connect with audiences promise a documentary that's not only thought-provoking but deeply engaging.
#whitehairdontcare: Beyond Beauty Standards takes a fearless look at the societal pressures women face to conceal the natural signs of aging. Through intimate interviews with women of all backgrounds who have embraced their aging hair, the film explores the transformative power of defiance and self acceptance
Expert commentary from beauty industry critics like Jessica Defino, advertising execs behind Dove's Reverse Selfie campaign and haircare industry insiders like Larisa Love unravels the multi-billion dollar beauty industry's relentless campaign against gray hair. Powerful testimonials from gray-haired social media influencers coupled with the vibrant backdrop of Mexico City during Dia de Muertes festivities will add unforgettable visual and emotional layers to the documentary, showcasing the universal beauty of embracing authenticity and honoring our ancestors' legacy
This documentary isn't simply about hair color; it's the catalyst for challenging outdated beauty standards and empowering women to embrace the freedom of authenticity at any age
The #whitehairdontcare Retreat in Mexico City
On October 11-14th, a group of incredibly beautiful and influential gray-haired social media personalities will come to Mexico City to immerse themselves in a city that celebrates individuality and champions self-expression, just like my documentary!
It will be a curated experience tailored for social media influencers and brands who champion age positivity and authentic beauty
There will be intimate group discussions and interviews delving into the heart of #whitehairdontcare themes
It will provide collaborative content creation opportunities to amplify our voices and connect with a passionate audience
We will provide unforgettable culinary experiences, cultural excursions, and opportunities to connect with a vibrant community
This will all be captured for the documentary film to show that aging women who embrace their aging hair continue to be full of life, love, and adventure!
