What is We Shell Flip?

We Shell Flip is a new kids picture book that helps parents and kids discuss what to do when they're feeling stuck. It’s a short fictional story about a special horseshoe crab named Helen that arms kids with the necessary tools to access their inner-strength.

Through Tara Victoria's stunning illustrations, parents and children everywhere will discover what happens on the beach when Helen goes woosh. 

Helen overcomes obstacles, discovers the power of creative expression, and digs-deep to access her inner-strength. The book teaches kids lessons about perseverance and mental endurance, and opens up a dialogue for parents and children alike to discuss what to do when they feel stuck.

We Shell Flip is self-published and ready for its first print run. We need your help to make this book a reality.

Why does We Shell Flip need your help?

My name is Megan, and I am the author of We Shell Flip. After having my son in 2020, I wrote the manuscript for We Shell Flip and created my storytelling platform, Unmasked Motherhood. Both have a singular goal in mind: to help parents, caregivers, and kids connect through storytelling.

This pandemic has been difficult for parents, and I wanted to make something that opens up a dialogue for them and their children.

Writing is my favorite form of creative expression. The birth of my son in 2020 sparked me to create this special book for parents when I realized many children's books lacked a narrative.

I am raising funds for the print and fulfillment costs associated with Unmasked Motherhood's self-published children's book, We Shell Flip.

The book will be the very first Unmasked Motherhood product, and I am incredibly excited to finally share it with you. I can't do this alone though, and need your help!!

So, why do Parents, Caretakers, and Kids need the We Shell Flip book? 

This book teaches kids and reminds adults that they can keep going when enduring difficult times. It's a compelling story that was written in 2020 when many of us felt our worlds were flipped upside down. This book is the perfect gift for kids of all ages, and will be an ideal stocking stuffer for any loved one, friend,  teacher, and, of course, for YOU!

I am especially grateful for the book's illustrator and designer, Tara Victoria. Here is just a bit more about her: Tara's abstract paintings, realistic portraits, murals, and illustrations tell tales of the human experience. Through a process of conversation, listening, and experimentation, she creates tangible artworks in the hope of allowing people to see themselves in someone else.
