We Got This TX -- It's Our Turn to Lead!

We Got This TX is on a mission to train, support, and create opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and women of color in Texas to participate in civic life and the Texas legislative process. We are fiercely committed to breaking down barriers to our participation because we believe that the women of color who serve, organize, and lead our communities deserve equitable representation.

We Got This TX was founded by Lauren Rangel, a Latina and former teenage mother with over 5 years of Texas legislative advocacy experience. The We Got This TX Board of Directors is led by Lauren and 9 other talented women of color in Texas who are determined to disrupt the status quo.

Our organization not only aims to address resource gaps and build pipelines of opportunity but we aim to combat systemic barriers to equitable representation such as the existing culture of exclusion in policy making spaces. For that reason, in addition to our other supportive programming,  we are currently developing an intensive justice, equity, and inclusion training targeted at legislative offices and 501(c)3 advocacy organizations addressing the unique issues women face in these spaces, led by the voices of women of color who have worked in legislative advocacy.

We are seeking $15,000 in funding to develop this program. The funding will be utilized to perform a survey of diversity in Texas legislature staff, perform deep community outreach to gain and compensate 30 focus group participants, pay 2 facilitators to host the focus groups, analyze the data, and develop the curriculum, and costs associated with optimizing this training for digital modules.
