July Update for Okana Care

Dear Founding Members of Okana Care,

I hope this message finds you well. As we reflect on the journey of Okana Care, I wanted to share a significant update and express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support.

As you may recall from our crowdfunding campaign, we committed to donating a gift to a postpartum mom for every $1,000 raised. We recently identified a recipient for this beautiful gesture, but unfortunately, she experienced a miscarriage.

Miscarriage, while not often openly discussed, is a reality for many. The statistics are sobering: miscarriage rates range from 9 to 17% for women ages 20 to 30, 20% for those ages 31 to 35, and up to 40% for women at age 40. This precious mama, who was anticipating a different fourth trimester experience, has faced not only the emotional and physical challenges of miscarriage but also the complex hormonal changes that accompany it.

In honor of her unique journey, we have provided a carefully curated gift set to offer comfort and support during this difficult time. The gift includes a tumbler, candle, bath bomb, oatmeal soap, warm socks, a blanket, and a small herb garden featuring rosemary, parsley, and basil. Our hope is that these items bring some solace and healing to her.

On another exciting note, I am pleased to share that we are actively communicating with three hotels to host Okana Care. Our projected opening date is set for July 2025, which aligns with the peak birth month in the US and Georgia. To ensure a smooth launch, we will conduct a soft opening in June 2025, operating at half capacity to refine our processes and build our team.

Your support and belief in Okana Care’s vision have been instrumental in bringing this project to life. Thank you for standing by us and for your continued dedication to enhancing postpartum care.

With deepest gratitude,

Lahnor Powell, ND, MPH
