Rasheedah Cook is the founder and CEO of Treats for the Streets. Treats for the Streets is working to transform a seasonal ice cream truck into a year long snack truck that will service the community of Newark. Rasheedah comes from a background of helping people, especially kids. She purchased an ice cream truck but realized that using the truck for the summer months was not enough - she wanted to put it to use all year long.
Treats for the Streets is raising money on iFundWomen for:
Equip the truck to utilize it year round Permits
Giving back to the community is an integral part of Treats for the Streets. Every year we host an event called "Fun day" at Weequahic park where we give away lots of treats. We hire a DJ, face painter, & balloon artist. We also have food , drinks and plenty of giveaways. On that day we have lots of fun.
The biggest challenge associated with operating an all year round snack truck is making sure we maintain the maintenance, and make sure everything is up to par at all times, getting permits to operate the truck for the whole year versus 5-6 months. Some of the obstacles may be a little challenging but we're ready to face the challenges to ensure that Treats for the streets is well equipped and that we meet the required standards to operate a successful business
