Project Description
Glenda’s Baby Productions bridges the gap between emerging talents and their target audiences. Inequity is a real problem in the world. We can see it more and more in our day to day lives. The entertainment industry is not immune to gatekeeping entry requirements that make it hard for creators to package and distribute content to larger audiences.
At Glenda's Baby Productions, we help creators put their best products forward before launching projects to larger distributors and studios. We also produce original content ourselves, providing opportunities for local talent to gain credits and real world experience in the industry.
The Rhythm/Da Blues is an acclaimed solo show by writer and founder of Glenda's Baby Productions, Erika E. Wade. This rhythmic and energetic show follows a young woman named Lena Darling as she finds her way to understanding what life as a Black woman in the South means to her. It truly takes a village, so this ensemble story features 12 memorable characters all played by Wade. Through ups, downs, and a few missed cues, Lena eventually gets it right. A heartbreakingly vulnerable portrait of the rhythms and blues of Black womanhood, this is a show you don’t want to miss.
The Rhythm/Da Blues was first professionally produced Off-Off Broadway at The 13th Street Repertory Theater in New York, New York.
Here’s where you can help! We’re in our last push for fundraising. We provide fair and livable wages to local talent that works with our productions. Not only do we promise a great show with a talented crew, there are exciting pre and post show events planned for the community. The funds raised in this campaign will be allocated to the following:
- Quality merchandise for talent and patrons
- Pre show meet and greet with the show crew
- Marketing and promotional materials
- Costs for theater space and production
- Scholarships for local city student volunteers
Running an indie company is tough work, but the rewards are endless. Representation truly matters. Shows like The Rhythm/Da Blues help to shine the spotlight on creative communities the theater embraces and yearns to see.

No. All tickets must be purchased through the theater or GB Pro separately.
- Where can I go to pick up my merch?
If you're attending the show, we'll have all crowdfunding campaign merch packed and ready to pick up at the closing show on Saturday, June 11th. If you're unable to come in person, we can arrange shipping with you in an email confirmation.
