Torbee - a Sweet, Wholesome Kids Show

Life moves so fast and there are a lot of demands on our time. Many of us parents rely on a little screen time to help entertain and educate our kids while also allowing us to breathe in the midst of our crazy schedules. But did you know that too much overstimulating screen time for your kids can have incredibly damaging effects?

Introducing Torbee - to slow things down in a fast-paced world.

Torbee is a sweet, wholesome show with wonder at the center of everything. Our content is designed to be slower yet engaging. It’s created by a mom with moms in mind. Meaning - Torbee can help bridge the gap between screen time and play time! Of course we want your kids to love watching Torbee, but we actually really want them to be so inspired to create and explore that they want to turn the TV off. We want Torbee to promote wonder and joy about things in the real world, and not just the virtual one.  
 

Tori Garris is a mom of 2 and found herself wanting more wholesome content for her own kids to grow up watching. With a former background in professional acting when she lived in Chicago and a heart for kids, she found some wonderful artists with whom she was able to build Torbee. She currently resides in central Virginia with her husband and kids and has a strong faith foundation. 

Torbee learns with you. She loves using her imagination, singing, reading, exploring outside, modeling safety, and finding joy in the simple things in life.

Education

Torbee's education style is inspired by the Montessori and Waldorf methods. The Montessori method involves children's natural interests and places an emphasis on hands-on learning and developing real-world skills. The Waldorf educational style is holistic and intends to develop children's intellectual, artistic, and practical skills, with focus on imagination and creativity.

Vibe

Torbee has a "homegrown" and "resourceful" feel to it. Important elements to our vibe are using what we have and taking our time. We want our viewers to be able to turn off the show and go create, play, and imagine with the tools and supplies they already have in their own homes and enjoy time outdoors. We want kids to feel the freedom to slow down and allow themselves time to learn and play and not fall into the pressure of materialism and consumerism. 

Inspirations

Torbee was inspired by a combination of many other amazing children's TV shows and movies. Two huge inspirations for us were Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Bluey. Both of these shows are wholesome, educational, playful, and loving. We want kids to feel like they are a part of Torbee's world. We want them to feel safe, comfortable, and loved like they are coming home, similar to how we feel when we watch Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and Bluey. 

Color-Coded Episodes

Episodes are color-coded by topic. Parents and kids will know what to expect and how to find episodes that fit what they're in the mood for based on the color theme. 

Red episodes teach emotions and safety. We have partnered with some experts in psychology to talk about how to not be ruled by our emotions. Torbee also teaches safety in a way where kids learn by example and through story. We discuss water safety, fire safety, safety in the kitchen, crafting safety, and what to do when someone is in danger.  

Yellow episodes slow things down with story time. We want kids to be excited about reading, listening to stories, and learning the alphabet. We want them to use their imaginations as they listen to Torbee read stories and visualize what they hear in their minds instead of simply watching a story unfold on-screen. 

Green episodes are designed to encourage wonder, curiosity, and exploring the outdoors. Torbee has a backpack that contains all the tools she uses when exploring and learning outside. We discover new things in nature, observe insects and animal critters in their natural habitats, and experience weather together.

Blue episodes provide a great foundation and excitement around numbers, shapes, recognizing and completing patterns, building structures, baking and cooking, taking measurements, telling time, counting, adding, and subtracting. We have partnered with licensed educators to bring the most age-appropriate content.

Purple episodes are intended for kids to be inspired to turn the TV *off* so they can go create! Torbee has a toy trunk that contains all sorts of resources to encourage imagination and creativity. The trunk holds everything from dress up to painting, sheet music, and all things arts and crafts.
