Project Description
The mission of the film project "Not Too Far From Here" is to deliver a message of hope, help and healing through the power of love and forgiveness.
According to the NCADV, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. This includes a range of behaviors (e.g. slapping, shoving, pushing) and in some cases might not be considered "domestic violence."
We believe that when people can physically see the ripple effect that is created because of their choices, it will cause them to reconsider some of their decisions. Something must change because 'if" these statistics are correct, 121,991,000 people in the USA are living in the aftermath. That leaves only 87,137,000 people in our nation living in safe homes. There's more people living in the aftermath of violence than there are not.
We believe we can change these numbers, by showing examples of what it looks like when a community stands together during the hard times of life. How love and compassion can help carry us through.
Lindsay's life shows an example of how even Christians go through hard times. As a teenager, she leans into her faith to help her make decisions that bring her hope, help, and healing. Lindsay's actions cause her atheist friend Darian to pause and consider the possibility of God's love for her too.
We're taking it a step farther for people that watch the film. They will be able to go to the website and discover established organizations that are successfully walking with people through the aftermath of the trauma. It's one thing to show them the building blocks to healthy coping skills. It's a bonus to point them in a direction to experience the help too.
Once we have funding in place, we will be able to host a casting call. Until then, we have Kevin and Sam Sorbo leading the team, along with music by 2 time Dove Award Nominee Musician Beckah Shae and stunt coordinator, Shawn Howard who served on 1883, Napoleon, and the Wild Wild West.
