In 2018, founder Kamilah Mitchell, expanded her brand with Teas With Meaning following a cancer diagnosis the previous fall. It was on the land of Mount Shasta, California where she realized all the herbs and magic she needed to heal were at her fingertips. Every herb in each tea blend was intentionally created to include medicinal properties.
Teas With Meaning is an organic loose leaf and bottled tea blend company based in Oakland, California. “Magic is the main ingredient,” Mitchell often says. The magic of her teas are that they have multiple uses outside of an organic, fresh cup of tea to sip. Whether in baths, yoni steams, your favorite yogurt or plant compost, TWM herbs can be enjoyed after the initial brew.
Statistics show that most small businesses or brands don't make it past 5 years, and most Black businesses don't make it past 3 years. But TWM is excited to start the new year off welcoming year 5. The intention of Teas With Meaning continues and will always be wellness, healing and self-care.
We’re Fundraising for Growth: Now more than ever tea time is so important. With everything going on in the world today creating opportunities for community to slow down, enjoy quality time with others or even have a quiet moment with ourselves is critical to our well-being. Aside from water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world. Specifically in the United States on any given day 159 million Americans are drinking tea and it can be found in almost 80% of U.S. households. It is the only beverage commonly served hot or iced, anytime, anywhere, for any occasion. Not only that, with Gen Z and Millennial generations prioritizing health, consuming mostly all-natural and plant-based ingredients, it is necessary to create opportunities that support this lifestyle – for the good of everyone. The traditional bars and happy hour spots are no longer the trend, pushing to the forefront needed spaces like the Tea Lounge that provides a healthy environment to relax, enjoy tea time and be in the presence of 'now; celebrating community with friends, loved ones or even establishing new relationships.
