Creating a model drought-tolerant permaculture farm and animal sanctuary in the heart of Texas.
Project Description
My project mission is to create a drought-tolerant permaculture farm and animal sanctuary in central Texas.
This project seeks to be a model for alternative and sustainable plant-based food systems while caring for biodiversity, ecosystems, and abused, neglected, and unwanted animals.
Central Texas has a wide-open market for plant-based agriculture, especially herbs, as it is primarily an animal agriculture-dominated state.
Along with education, modeling, outreach, art, and upcycled home goods, herbs will be the primary market good to support the sanctuary residents as well as my daughter and myself.
I am seeking funding to build and prepare crop areas, buy trees, mulch, plants, water catchment, hire labor, and marketing for the project.
Currently, this is a one-woman operation although I intend to seek out and hire help as funding allows.
