Created in July 2019 The Black Hair Experience is an interactive space that celebrates Black hair and culture through photo activations, art, community and retail spaces. Our mission is to create and provide access to spaces, experiences, consumer goods that amplify the beauty in Black hair and culture through social sharing, community outreach workshops, and retail access for Black owned brands in brick + mortar spaces.
While The Black Hair Experience is most known for creating events and experiences we are so much more than selfies. We connect with our community in a host of ways but our largest effort is through our WeCare workshop we created. We developed a 4 hour workshop that centers around haircare, self identity, self love, and fostering friendships for school aged girls. This workshop is offered to community organizations, youth groups, and schools and is offered inside of our locations. These workshops impact lives because it aids in reshaping the way we see ourselves and how our experiences are celebrated.
We are raising funds to further develop our outreach program and expand into new markets. We would like to expand our outreach program to reach adults in addition to the youth community we serve, expand our exhibit into new markets, and marketing to continue our brand awareness.
A Growing Market
With the use of technology and social sharing continuing to grow, TBHE has created a space that crosses both. Black audiences spend over $3B in hair-care and experiences annually. TBHE has created and experience that taps into both simultaneously.
Ready for Expansion
Since opening the doors to our first in-person experience in 2020 we have had over 100,000 and demand for our presence in new markets continues to grow. As such we are listening to the demands of our audience and looking to bring the experience to as many markets as possible.
In 2024 we would like to extend our reach and serve more people. Here’s how you can help us grow: We want to raise $75,000 to scale up operations, expand our outreach program, and execute our vision for 2024 and beyond.
