My Dream, My Fight, My Mission: Social Sizzle & Plate It Forward

Hello, my name is Toya, and I’m the proud founder of Social Sizzle, a hibachi-street fusion food trailer with a mission far bigger than just serving meals.

For over 30 years, I have worked hard to build a life for my family. I’m a single mother to two biological children, and my heart led me to adopt two more. My home has always been open to anyone in need—because helping others is simply who I am.

In 2022, life threw me a curveball. I became ill and underwent three major surgeries. While still recovering, I was laid off in 2024 while on medical leave. The dream I had been building—my food business—was suddenly at risk. My world turned upside down, but my passion refused to die.

Why Social Sizzle? Why Now?

Social Sizzle is not just another food truck. It’s a movement.
I believe food has the power to heal, connect, and uplift. Through my food, I want to touch souls—not just satisfy appetites.

That’s why I launched Plate It Forward, our program where:
Every Starter Plate sold + is a donation = one hot meal donated to someone experiencing homelessness.

This isn’t charity; it’s community. It’s love served hot.

The Challenge

I am currently in the upstart phase of Social Sizzle, but my livelihood and business are at risk. Without funding, I cannot continue feeding my family, serving my community, or keeping this dream alive.
