Welcome to Shero Comics and thank you for dropping into our Shero Universe where we create content that focuses on minority women and girls in films, comics and gaming! Our origins story goes all the way back to 2008 when our Shero CEO, Shequeta L. Smith walked into a comic book shop looking for a comic book that featured a black woman as something more than a sidekick. When she came up empty handed, she began thinking about creating her own comic to fill this void. Six years later, she began the journey of turning her award-winning screenplay, Rayven Choi, into an award-winning graphic novel series.  

Over the past few years, we’ve managed to finance the first four books of Rayven Choi with profits that we’ve made at comic cons. But with comic cons being on an indefinite pause and with us wanting to get this last book to you expeditiously, we felt that this would be the perfect opportunity to ask YOU, our BIGGEST SUPPORTERS, to help us raise money to complete the series. Because as they say, teamwork makes the dream work!

 

 

Rayven Johnson is a five-year-old army brat when she witnesses a hitman murder her parents on a military commuter train. She’s the sole survivor on the train and is quietly sent to Seoul, Korea, where she is adopted by her father’s best friend and KATUSA, Don Choi. Rayven spends twenty years in Seoul before discovering a clue that her father left behind that could lead her to find the killer. Tired of being a victim, Rayven returns to America to find the killer and make him pay for what he did to her family  

Rayven Choi is a five-part serial graphic novel series. Chapter #5 concludes Rayven’s story of revenge, but it’s only the beginning of what we have in store for this dynamic character and her journey. Stay tuned!

The Rayven Choi graphic novel series is Teen+ which means that it's suitable for audiences who are 13 and up. This rating is due to graphic violence and (censored) strong language. However, there is no nudity.

 KOREAMERICAN

 

 

Rayven Choi tells the story of a young woman who, as a child, witnesses a hit man murder her parents on a military commuter train. She is the sole survivor on the train and is quietly sent to Seoul, Korea where she is adopted by her father's best friend. Rayven spends twenty years in Korea before discovering a clue that her father left behind that could lead her to finding the killer.

 

THE RETURN

 

 

Rayven is still haunted by the nightmares of her past when she discovers a secret tape that her father left behind. The taped confession points the finger at an American mole who is selling top secret information to North Korea. Upon hearing the confession, Rayven decides to return to America to find the man who murdered her parents.  Back in America, Rayven seeks help from the FBI but she soon realizes that they might also have blood on their hands.

 

 

THE BOUNTY HUNTER

 

 

Rayven works on her case with former cop turned bail bondsmen, Dorian Glover, and former Marine turned bounty hunter, Cassius Malone. Dorian uses his Washington connections to try to break the cold case that even his father couldn’t solve. Rayven ends up on a hunt with Cassius where she instinctively saves his life. All three of them work together to piece together evidence to solve the case but the closer they get to uncovering the bad guys, the closer the bad guys get to Rayven.

 

CHASING GHOSTS

 

 

After Rayven's identity is revealed, the hitman comes after her with guns blazing. Cassius comes to her rescue, but now that Rayven's cover is blown, she's in even more danger and considers going back home to Korea. Dorian has a break in the case when he gets a lead on who the FBI mole might be but is perplexed as to what the motive was for the assassination.

 

 

VENGEANCE IS A SIN

 

 

All things come to a head in this fifth and final chapter of the Rayven Choi series. After Dorian is kidnapped, Rayven and Cassius go on a manhunt to find him. Finally, Rayven comes face-to-face with the hitman that murdered her parents twenty-five years ago but must overcome her debilitating anxiety to get Dorian back and get the revenge she so desperately seeks.

SHEQUETA L. SMITH

Shequeta is a Salisbury, North Carolina, native, and alumna of North Carolina State University. Since 2008, she has been busy writing and directing short films, writing and creating comics, and writing award-winning screenplays that usually feature powerful women. In 2019, she was selected into Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's “Imagine Impact” screenwriting program. Currently, she is filming a documentary, "The Shero Universe," which follows her as she tours the world of international comic-cons. QAZZRAN ALAMRY

Qazzran is a visual artist and comic artist from Bali, Indonesia. Besides staying active in the fine arts with his contemporary paintings, Qazzran grew up reading manga and comics, which has deepened his love for creating them. Visualizing the idea and the story is what he loves most while creating comics. In his freelance career as a comic artist, Qazzran specializes in penciling and inking. Alivon is a Mexican colorist and a lover of graphic art with national and international experience. Dezi is a freelance artist who specializes in lettering comic books. He got his first big break in comics when he took a staff position at DC Comics.
