Seed Cycling Start-Up
Making great foods that do good! First up, a line of seed cycling products that will help fight period poverty with every purchase.
Project Description
Human Kind Foods LLC is on a mission to make great foods that do good - foods designed to benefit the bodies that consume them AND support communities in need by donating a portion of their sales. The flagship product of Human Kind Foods LLC will be geared towards women: a line of seed cycling products which will help fight period poverty with every purchase. Seed cycling is the practice of eating specific pre-ground seeds during different phases of the menstrual cycle to balance hormones and help manage the pain & discomfort of menstruation. Though little clinical research exists on the efficacy of seed cycling, many women see incredible results in their first few cycles. And there are no downsides to eating more nutrient-packed seeds! However, this daily practice can be time-consuming and difficult to manage. Our products will enable those who menstruate to easily access the benefits of seed cycling through ready-to-eat bites and user-friendly seed blends, while donating 10-15% of profits to organizations fighting period poverty in the US and abroad. Wellness wins for women worldwide!
Money raised through crowd-funding efforts will go directly towards financing start-up costs (renting commercial kitchen space, obtaining required certifications and registrations, purchasing production materials, building the website). With your help, I am hopeful that Human Kind Foods LLC can begin offering seed cycling products online by June 1st!
The Campaign FAQs
- What is Seed Cycling?
- Seed cycling is the practice of eating specific pre-ground seeds during different phases of the menstrual cycle to balance hormones and help manage the pain & discomfort of menstruation.
- How do you practice Seed Cycling?
- Menstrual cycles are divided into two phases: follicular (Phase 1) and luteal (Phase 2). Phase 1 starts with the first day of your period and lasts until day 14. Phase 2 is the period between day 15-28 of your cycle (coinciding with ovulation). To practice seed cycling, you need to consume 1 Tbsp. each of ground pumpkin and flax seeds daily in Phase 1, then switch to consuming 1 Tbsp. each of ground sesame and sunflower seeds daily in Phase 2.
- What products will you offer?
- I plan to sell at least two different formats of seed cycling products to suit consumer needs. Based on learnings from early market research, I will offer a ready-to-eat option (either bars or bites) and more of a choose-your-own-adventure option (flavored seed blends) for those who want more flexibility in how they eat their seeds.
- When will your website go live?
- Targeting the end of May, so we can start shipping orders June 1st! (UPDATE: now targeting launch by the end of June)
