At Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary, we are creating more than a refuge. We are building a movement for healing, land stewardship, and Black and Indigenous liberation. Rooted in the belief that the land holds memory, wisdom, and power, Maji ya Chai is a place where people can reconnect to the earth, reclaim space, and find healing through community, culture, and care. Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is located on 40 beautiful acres of land near the north shore of Gichigaming (Lake Superior), just outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota.
The Problem: Disconnection from the Land, Disinvestment in Our Communities
For too long, Black and Indigenous communities have been displaced from the land. They have been cut off from ancestral connections, sustainable resources, and spaces for healing and self-determination. The impact of colonization, environmental injustice, and systemic barriers has left us without places to gather, grow, and thrive on our own terms.
We are changing that.
We are planning to build our first 4 cabins late summer of 2025. Your funds are going towards building cabins, landscaping and creating a space for community.
The Vision: A Sanctuary for Liberation
Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is reclaiming what has been lost by creating a living, breathing space for restoration and self-determined futures. This sanctuary is a place where land is not just owned but nurtured. Where community is not just imagined but built. We are establishing:
Regenerative land stewardship practices that restore the environment and provide sustainable resources
Healing and retreat spaces designed for rest, reflection, and community connection
Creative and educational programming that empowers people to reconnect with the land, learn ancestral practices, and reimagine a liberated future

What is Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary?
Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is a space dedicated to healing, land stewardship, and Black and Indigenous liberation. We are creating a refuge where people can reconnect with the land, restore cultural traditions, and build sustainable futures through regenerative practices, communal care, and creative expression.
Why is this project important?
For generations, Black and Indigenous communities have been displaced from the land and disconnected from ancestral knowledge. Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is reclaiming this relationship by creating a sanctuary where people of all ages and backgrounds can gather, heal, and build self-determined futures. This project is about more than land ownership—it is about restoration, liberation, and creating a sustainable, thriving community.
Where is Maji ya Chai located?
Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is located on a beautiful piece of land near the north shore of Gichigaming (Lake Superior), just outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota, where we are actively developing infrastructure, growing food, and creating spaces for gathering, rest, and movement-building.
Who is behind this project?
Founder/Visionary Rebeka Ndosi dedicated team of land stewards, healers, educators, and artists and community members in Minnesota who are committed to creating a space for collective healing and liberation are walking together to realize the fullness of this vision. Join us!
Can I visit the land?
Maji ya Chai Land Sanctuary is in an active development phase, and we are working on creating safe, accessible spaces for visitors. As we build out the sanctuary, we will host community days, retreats, and gatherings where people can engage with the space. Stay tuned for announcements!
