Navigating the world of mental health can be hard, we're here to help.
Our goal is to decrease stigma and demystify mental health by acting as a connection point between the community and mental wellness providers. We provide resources for individuals seeking mental health assistance, education to help reduce mental health stigmas and develop/promote mental wellness friendly events in and around Jefferson County.
Why a Mental Wellness Hub? In a city with over 1000 therapists in private practice, many more in community mental health, and numerous Mental Health non-profit organizations - Louisville doesn't lack for mental wellness resources. Instead, our community members lack connection to those resources.
That's where Mental Health Lou comes in. Our belief is that by bringing mental health off the couch and into the community, we can improve the lives of others. We do this by acting as a wellness "hub", an all in one place for Louisvillians to find mental wellness resources that are right for them.
What does a Wellness Hub do? Mental Health Lou serves as a connection point to resources, events and mental wellness education. For providers we offer a place for them to promote their business and highlight their talents without having to be saavy at marketing and social media. For the community we connect them to providers through our Resource Guide, develop programs and workshops in collaboration with business, schools and other groups and provide mental health tips and tools to help normalize and destigmatize.
With so much given away for free - how is Mental Health Lou sustainable? We are fortunate to have local sponsors that provide us with some income for programming and events. Additional revenue streams come from t-shirt sales and workshops. Our Speakers Collective is a collection of mental health professionals available to give talks and workshops for schools and local businesses. Likewise our on-demand workshops are available for the public to watch and learn new skills and tools.
Who does Mental Health Lou serve? The entire city of Louisville and surrounding areas - including Southern Indiana.
Our Goal - Our goal is to raise $10,000 start up to help get our initial programs off the ground. This includes developing more on-demand workshops and community workshops as well as day to day operations.
Your Help Is Needed! We understand that our business is sometimes hard to wrap your head around. However, we've seen the impact our organization has already made on some of our community members. In 2020-2021 alone we've hosted a free 5 day Mental Wellness Summit, connected people to therapists during the city-wide protests, promoted over 50+ events for Mental Health Awareness Month, worked with hospitals to provide workshops for doctors, nurses and staff, developed a workshop for mental health outreach in minority communities and hosted workshops for teachers, parents and students during the pandemic.
We did all this with a budget of $1000. Imagine what we can do with 10x that!
