Rainbow Blonde Records: Rising from the Fire
The beautiful Altadena home where I lived and ran our dream business was just five minutes from Eaton Canyon. While the structure is miraculously still standing, it has been rendered uninhabitable due to asbestos, char, soot, and toxic ash contamination from the Eaton Fire. My husband and I were forced to evacuate immediately and have been displaced ever since. We also had to dispose of almost all our belongings, most importantly the bulk of Raibow Blonde's stock and office.
Who We Are
Rainbow Blonde Records is an independent, artist-owned record label dedicated to supporting musicians with integrity, creativity, and ownership. Founded by myself and my husband, José James, we built Rainbow Blonde as a home for groundbreaking artists—fostering a community where music and storytelling thrive.
The Problem
The Eaton Fire devastated our business. We lost instruments, electronics, our entire recording studio, archival materials, and essential business assets to toxic contamination. This means lost music, canceled projects, and immense financial setbacks—not only for us but for the artists we support.
On top of that, the cost of safe disposal alone was $15,000, with relocation and rebuilding expenses stacking even higher.
