Project Description

As a survivor-led 501(C)3 and only people of color led organization in this space, NOMW’s mission is to combat human trafficking and domestic violence through education and training, community and policy advocacy.  NOMW provides resources and plans to provide housing for victims and survivors, and shelter for the homeless.

THE ISSUE:  The pandemic has increased New York's City homeless population significantly.  Over 92,000 are homeless.  Over 50,000 families are on course for eviction.  And nearly 4,000 people sleep on the street, in the subway system or in other public spaces.

OUR SOLUTION:  Their newest initiative, HigHPointe, will provide shelter for the homeless, and long-term transitional and permanent housing with comprehensive, culturally-relevant wraparound services for victims and survivors. NOMW will be part of the solution by opening up its first HigHPointe model on January 2021 with the assistance of an approved grant from a NYC agency!

YOUR DONATION:  The $250,000 we are raising will be used for start-up costs as well as initial staffing as we embrace this new endeavor!

Our incredible, awesome team has +25 years shelter, affordable and permanent housing experience, coupled with thriving survivors leaders and extraordinary partners in the field!

Won't you donate today?  Your generosity will make our shelter a reality for up to 70 individuals with services they need.  We thank you for your time and consideration.  The NOMW Team

The Campaign FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How many HigHPointe models are planned?
  • Five.  2 models in 2021 will kick off the models - HigHPointe Now and HigHPointe Safe Haven.  The other 3 will be residences for designated vulnerable population.
  • What's the difference between the 2 models opening up in 2021?
  • One provides emergency shelter (HigHPointe Now) the other provides long-term transitional shelter living (HigHPointe Safe Haven).  All are aimed at moving individuals and families into permanent housing.
  • Will the $250,000 cover all 5 models?
  • No.  The $250,000 will mainly cover the first model scheduled to open January 2021 no later than February 2021.
  • In addition to the $250,000, do you have other funding for HigHPointe Now?
  • Yes, we have funding to lease our property as well as for programs. But, we are in need of funds for start up costs as well as initial hires.  This is imperative.
  • Is there any additional assistance you need to get this off the ground?
  • Yes, please share the donation link with as many people as you know.  No amount is too small nor too large.
