Project Description

Here at Sawee’s Nourish Farm, we know that access to fresh food isn't a luxury —it’s a birthright, a healing force, and a foundation for justice. In the heart of our Jamaica, Queens, community and urban centers across the United States, community members are forced to overcome the roadblocks of environmental racism and food apartheid. Our neighborhoods are saturated with fast food but starved for true nourishment. We’re done waiting for change. We’re growing it ourselves.

Jamaica, Queens is home to over 200,000 residents, many of whom live in areas classified as ‘food deserts’ with limited access to fresh, healthy foods. On average it is 20 bodegas to 1 supermarket in Jamaica Queens. Sawee’s Nourish Farm aims assist in reshaping the landscape by providing sustainable, community-grown produce directly to the heart of the neighborhood.

We are launching an urban aquaponics farm that merges ancestral wisdom with sustainable innovation to bring clean, local food directly to the people. Our mission is to build a working prototype of our 30x50-foot aquaponics greenhouse—an intentional space to grow vegetables, herbs, and farm-raised fish, while also cultivating knowledge, community, and opportunity.

This campaign will help fund our initial build, hire local hands at $35/hour, and invest in education, training, and outreach—especially for single mothers, elders, and youth. Every dollar supports generational wealth, food justice, and community healing without hustle culture or exploitation.

Your support isn’t just a donation—it’s a seed in a movement.
