Mermaid Esmerelda gives swim lesson to 20 families

Our mission is to create a space for people of all ages to learn a new skill. Learning how to swim is a lifesaving skill especially in a city like Miami. 

Children and parents will no longer fear or misunderstand the water. They will develop swimming skills to prevent drowning and enjoy fun exercise. 

There are 6 million inhabitants of Miami-Dade and 6 million more in the surrounding counties. 7 - 10% of them are considered strong swimmers, 35% of them are intermediate level swimmers, the remaining populations are beginner or new swimmers in a state surrounded by water on 3 sides. This population is exposed to the same risks with less experience. This can be a dangerous thing combined with a lack of water safety knowledge. 

Our company provides mermaid swimming courses and live entertainment for events of all scales. This is a sure-fire way of ensuring that even the shyest of children will approach the idea of swimming with a smile and willingly listen to the lessons and participate in the lessons. It’s also a great way to help adults gain awareness of our ocean conservation efforts and maintaining a healthy ocean environment. 

I am seeking funding on behalf of Mermaid Esmerelda Inc to train new teachers and give select families of socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods the opportunity to learn this lifesaving skill. We would provide them and their children with a special gift and a 20 lesson swim course package at their local pool. The funds will be used to pay for pool use fees, equipment, training new teachers, and the lessons along with their gifts. 

The team consists of myself, and my friends Matthew Coons, Karen Denny, Dave Hatwood, Jacqueline Samuels, and many freelancers.
