- Why IFW?
- There is a complete lack of funding options for women entrepreneurs. 72% of female founders cite lack of access to capital as the #1 barrier to starting a business.
- Where is my money going?
- Your contribution is going directly into the production and development of our revolutionary menstrual cup and to period education through our graphic novel for all young people.
- When will I get my reward?
- We will deliver all rewards within 2 weeks of the end of the campaign.
- What is period poverty?
- For some, having access to affordable period products isn’t an issue. However, many menstruators across the globe, including the United States, don’t have that privilege. 1 in 5 American girls have either missed school or left school early due to lack of access to products (Abiodiun, 2020). This statistic is even higher in some countries across the globe, creating an even wider gap between boys and girls in education. It’s not just young menstruators in schools who are plagued with period poverty, it is people without homes, living in remote areas, in prisons and living in poverty.
- What are menstrual cups?
- Menstrual cups are a sustainable alternative to disposable period products. They are typically bell-shaped, made of medical-grade silicone and placed in the vaginal canal. They can be reused for over a year, worn for 12 hours at a time and save you over a hundred dollars a year. There are dozens of options, and choosing the right one for you can be difficult. However, our cup, that will launch in 2021, is the most innovative, user-friendly option.
- How can period education be better?
- Only 15 states in the United States require sex education to be medically accurate. Only 26 require that education be age-appropriate. Only 9 states require discussion of LGBTQ identities and relationships (Planned Parenthood, 2020). While these statistics are alarming, organizations like ours are working to create inclusive, comprehensive, age-appropriate period education.
- How can you help end period poverty?
- Support companies, like ours, who make it their mission to end period poverty and donate products and resources to the most impoverished areas. Donate to nonprofits, fundraisers and collection drives. Engage in political activism by supporting education and access to affordable period products, such as getting rid of the period tax. Sign this petition to end the period tax.
- When can I buy your products?
- Our Digital Graphic Novel and Online Workshops will be available at the end of 2020. Our In-person Workshops and Menstrual Cup will be available in 2021.
