MASAMI is a clean, premium haircare brand that just launched in February 2020. Our brand is good for you without the bad ingredients (no sulfates, phthalates or parabens) and is high performing and super hydrating, thanks to our unique Japanese ocean botanical, Mekabu.
We have a purpose -- to help rebalance the ocean ecosystem, starting with northeastern Japan (which is still dealing with the impact of the tsunami in 2011). To that end, we created The MASAMI INSTITUTE to fund ocean conservation research in Japan. We now want to take our sustainability efforts further and create a large size, ceramic, refillable bottle to replace our plastic packaging. This campaign will fund our refillable bottle initiative.
A bit more about us -- Lynn Power is the CEO and Co-founder of MASAMI. She spent 30 years in advertising, most recently as CEO of J. Walter Thompson NY before leaving to become an entrepreneur. She has worked on many iconic beauty brands including L'Oreal, Gillette Venus, Clinique, Vichy, Nexxus and more. James Hammett is Chief Innovation Officer and Co-Founder with a passion for beauty -- spending 20+ years working on Clairol and L'Oreal. He spent the past 10 years perfecting the MASAMI formulations. To launch MASAMI in today's DTC consumer-led world, they have put together a team of digital and PR professionals to fuel the business, including a digital acquisition expert, UX designer, content creator and media relations specialist.
