MagikShears is a calming, personalized haircut tutorial app designed for families with autistic and neurodivergent children. It helps turn haircut struggles into magical, step-by-step moments of confidence and connection—right from home.

How does the app work?
You’ll upload a photo of your child’s hair, choose a haircut style, and get a custom, beginner-friendly video tutorial tailored just for that haircut. No clippers required. No stress. No tears. Just ✨magic✨ and step-by-step support made with love.

When will the app be available?
We’re aiming for late 2025, and all backers will receive updates along the way as we bring this dream to life.

Is the app only for kids?
Nope! While it’s designed with autistic and neurodivergent children in mind, anyone who wants a calming, personalized haircut guide—especially beginners—can use it. Your uncle, your neighbor, even your cat (okay, maybe not your cat).

Will it work for all hair types?
Yes! One of our goals is to include inclusive tutorials and a wide range of hair textures and types. Curls, coils, straight, wavy—we’re working to make everyone feel seen and supported.

Do I get to see Shannon on a Zoom call?

What if I suck at cutting hair?
Then you’re in the right place! This app was literally created for parents with zero haircutting experience. If you can follow a recipe or build IKEA furniture (kind of), you got this.

What if my kid has a meltdown mid-haircut?
That’s real. The app will include tips for sensory-friendly setups and gentle pacing. And you can always pause the tutorial, regroup, and try again when everyone’s ready. No judgment. No pressure.

Can I support without picking a reward?

Will there be clippers involved?
Only if you choose to use them. Many families, including mine, prefer scissors-only cuts for sensory reasons. We’re designing tutorials with that in mind.
