A Little Magick Shop

Hello.

My name is Selena IR Drake. I'm the owner of The Purple Door.

I'm not going to go into some long schpeel about who I married (I'm not) or how many kids I have (one spoiled fur baby) like so many of those other woman-owned small businesses. What I will tell you is that I'm a half-German redhead born under the sign of Taurus in the year of the tiger. More specifically, I am a martial arts enthusiast, a witch with Cherokee roots, and a lover of thunderstorms.

That's enough about me, don't you think?

Let's move on to why you're here.

The Purple Door is the only metaphysical store in northwestern North Dakota supplying pagans, Wiccans, and druids with products necessary for the Craft.

And right now I operate out of this measly 60 sq ft trailer:

While it does work, it simply doesn't offer the space needed to expand my inventory to meet demand. Nor do I have a stable location for my guests to come to when they need supplies. Yes, they can order online, but most of us will tell you that you need to see, smell, and feel the items because certain ones will call to you.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the trailer is the climate. I have no control over wind, rain, heat, cold... You get the idea. In June, I lost the majority of my candle inventory due to melting in the heat. I still haven't been able to replace them. And that's not saying anything about the impact the weather has on my guests (not to mention, me).

So I am reaching out and asking for help getting a physical storefront.

I've found one that is located on Main Street in downtown Minot. It's 350 sqft, affordable, and clean. It's across the street from the popular 10 North Main and across the tracks from The Depot, so there's decent foot traffic in the area as well. And ample parking both on street and in the back lot.

To get this ideal spot, I need $350 per month for rent. I know what you're thinking: $350? That's it?

Yes.

But I'd like to cover my first year, so I'm asking for $4200 to cover that.

Then there's the insurance, which I can get liability, worker's comp, and property for just less than $600 per year. (What can I say? I shop around for good deals)

That's $4800.

That will cover an entire year's rent, utilities, and insurance and allow me to get traction in the community.
