Project Description
Hi, my name is Leigh and I am trying to start up a company called Leigh's Teas! I started making herbal teas as a teenager. After just getting out of an abusive home, I was more focused than ever on wanting to help other people and I started making herbal blends for my sick friends. Eventually everyone in my neighborhood started requesting my tea when they were sick and I was just really glad to help.
There are so many big brands of tea companies out there, but unfortunately most aren't transparent about where the herbs are grown or with what seeds. My goal for Leigh's Teas is to grow organic herbs in my home and make homemade blends to sell. These blends will be for both medicinal and magickal purposes.
I'm seeking funding for the initial start-up costs of getting a hydroponic system that will allow me to grow herbs indoors in the winter, seeds, jars to put the dried herbs in and the increased utility needs that a hydroponics system will require. I also want to buy a booth so that I can sell my blends at the local farmer's market.

Q: How long have you been making teas?
A: I have been making tea blends since I was 13 years old. Whenever anybody got sick in my neighborhood, they would come to me for my special tea. It's been an honor to help people for 11 years.
Q: How long will it take for you to start making herbal blends after receiving funding?
A: A few months. The whole point of the business is to grow organic herbs so that I know where they have been and what seeds were used (specifically if they are non-GMO). After getting the hydroponics system and the seeds, the little babies need to grow! Then they will be cultivated, dried, mixed and stored.
Q: You said you wanted to use them for magickal purposes? What?
A: I've been pagan since I was 12 years old. I truly believe that herbs serve a purpose other than being a tasty addition to meals. Try it out and you will see! :)
