The Lab Drawer: STEAM Education to your door step
Making Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math accessible for all students!

Project Description

What is S.T.E.A.M.?
S.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM-related education integrates STEM disciplines with the arts in order to propel innovative thinking. The Lab Drawer infuses art and creativity into every experiment, allowing students to develop creative problem solving skills while becoming educated in STEM fields.
20 million middle school students in the United States are not getting the S.T.E.A.M. education important for their futures, but Science and Arts work better together than apart. The Lab Drawer bridges the gap between STEM education and the visual, literary, & performing arts.
The Lab Drawer is an Ed-Tech monthly subscription box full of cross-functional learning experiences for children ages 10 - 14. Inspired by the look of a chemistry lab drawer, every box includes materials and instructions for a unique STEM experiment. Each month, your child will have the opportunity to learn and experience the STEM disciplines through Augmented Reality (AR) and the arts. The Lab Drawer has everything your child needs to unleash their potential as world future leaders in STEAM.
The funding will be used to develop our technology components such as our app and online community for our users. This will allow us to continue to engage students with STEAM in familiar ways similar to some of their favorite games.
The Lab Drawer is the brainchild of two Detroit scientists who came together to fill the void in effectively engaging minority and underrepresented students in science and art education. The team has over 30 years of combined technical science and art education experience.

We are strong believers that how we equip our youth today will make a better future for everyone! Proceeds from the sale of every Lab Drawer go to our non-profit Motor city STEAM Foundation to make sure students in Detroit have access to adequate STEAM education at no cost. We do this by providing the Lab Drawer and its curriculum for free in partnership with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Michigan and the Ford Resource and engagement center.
We thank you in advance for your donation and for joining us with equipping the youth today so they can be the leaders of tomorrow.
