Kidz' Kulture Learning Center

Our Mission

The goal is to open a childcare center called Kidz’ Kulture Learning Center LLC, in San Antonio, Texas. We will provide quality learning for all ages in a fun and friendly environment and in a high-quality early childhood program where the children are active learners in both a structured and unstructured setting. To achieve this goal, Kidz’ Kulture Learning Center will provide a well-rounded classroom schedule that will have the fundamental subjects to prepare our learners for school and to elevate them to the next level at their own pace. Those subjects would include Spanish, Reading/ Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Social Emotions, Art, and Science, while incorporating play. Hence the name Kidz’ Kulture, because we will cater to the culture of the kids, which is learning through love, play and laughter. Not only will we incorporate the culture of play, but also the different cultures of the families. Each month will have a culture theme to teach children about different foods, traditions, arts and languages of different ethnicities. America is growing in diversity, and we plan to support each child’s culture and other cultures in the center.

Problem

As parents are returning to the office from working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for childcare continues to grow. This causes daycares and learning centers to create waiting lists for enrollment. There are currently several learning centers in the Culebra area, with waiting lists for enrollment several months long. This forces parents to search locations outside their area to enroll their children into childcare centers further away from home or work. Another problem in the Culebra area and surrounding, for parents looking to enroll their children into childcare, is a lack of quality and affordable learning centers. Several learning centers in the area have a minimum fee of $265 a week for infants. These centers provide an enriching curriculum that teaches all the fundamentals while letting the children play. These centers also provide reports on how the child is doing, live videos of the child’s interaction and constant communication with the teachers. With the average childcare cost being $777 monthly and growing demand for childcare, parents will soon have little to no options on choosing a good & affordable learning center of their choice.

Market

San Antonio is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas, with a population of 1,598,964. It is the second largest city in Texas and 6th largest city in the United States. San Antonio’s population has increased by 20.46% since the most recent census and continues to increase. There are currently 509,550 households in the city of San Antonio with a population rate of 52% married. Of the 1.5 million people in San Antonio, 6.9% of them (approximately 110,328) are between the ages 0-5 years old. There are currently 685 daycares/learning centers in San Antonio and there is still a growing need for more quality learning centers. In the last year, the Culebra area has opened 2 new learning centers called Ivy Kids of Alamo Ranch and Alphabetz Montessori which both have waiting lists for enrollment.

Why are you seeking funding, and how will you spend the budget?

Kidz Kulture Learning Center will need funding to help the renovation cost of the building. The funds will also be used to purchase equipment for the center. The equipment would include but not limited to baby beds, mats, baby changing tables, toys, books, electronic devices, playground set, bookshelves, curriculum and kitchen appliances. In addition to purchasing equipment and renovation, the funds would also help alleviate the startup cost of the center. This would help in a tremendous way by having more money to pay our teachers a livable wage.

Right now, the team is small with just the owner/ director and of course the support of her husband and friends. The director holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with 10+ years of teaching experience in grades Pre-K–5^th and an ESL certification. She also has 5 years of childcare experience as a Lead Teacher. Thank you so much for your time, consideration and help!
