Keep the Conversation Going

Many people benefit from mental health and therapy services. In 2019, there were roughly 51.5 million adults with a mental health illness, but only 44.8% were receiving services (NAMI, 2021). Despite the benefits of mental health and therapy services, many barriers stop individuals from getting the help they need. These barriers include social stigma, high cost, and limited options.

As a therapist in the field for over 13 years and in private practice for over five years, I have seen clients have lapses in treatment due to financial issues such as being unable to pay high copays, high deductibles, or lapse in insurance coverage. Although many affordable health plans are available, they come with high out-of-pocket costs to individuals. Many individuals often have abrupt stops in their treatment due to being unable to afford many out-of-pocket expenses. This campaign aims to raise funding to assist clients with offsetting those costs, so they do not experience a lapse in therapy services, ultimately affecting their progress and mental well-being.

With your donation, we will help individuals start therapy services sooner or remain in current therapy treatment without the financial burden of out-of-pocket costs. This will allow these individuals the opportunity to focus on therapy services and their mental well-being more consistently. Funding will also be essential for expanding services by providing educational opportunities about mitigating mental health issues, building awareness through workshops and webinars, and employing staff to help others find the services they need to address their mental health concerns.

Fit Life Wellness, LLC was founded in 2017 by Moniek S. Garside, LCSW, MBA.  Moniek is a speaker, strategist, and consultant. Her specialty areas include racial trauma, life coaching, depression/anxiety, weight loss and obesity, stress management, grief counseling, corporate wellness, and employee assistance programs.
