Job Readiness with Bck 2 Skool
Providing paid internships to students of color. Students will also attend weekly workshops on financial literacy & job skills development.
Project Description
- We exist to Create Unity & Confidence through Education and Community development.
- The Bck 2 Skool Initiative was created to close the employment gap among students of color and their white counterparts.
- 1st quarter data: 2020 22.8% of Black youths were unemployed compared to 11% of White youths
- 1st quarter data: 2021 17.1% of Black youths were unemployed compared to 13.4 % of White youths

Close the employment gap - We partner with companies to provide internships for students. By equipping students with entry-level job skills when they are young, they will be more marketable for jobs when they are adults. Thus, closing the existing employment gap. In addition, they will attend weekly Financial literacy and job readiness workshops

The future - We are seeking funds to stipend the students during the 6 weeks summer internship. The stipend will cover students’ meals, transportation, and other needs they will have during this time. 100% of the funds raised will go towards paying interns.
- My team consists of myself, who will lead the day-to-day logistics, a financial management director who will lead the financial literacy class. A Business consultant who will create our job readiness curriculum
- We offer this program and all the workshops to students for free and we do not make a profit from this. So thank you so much for partnering with me to bring this service to our students. Thank you for pouring into their future with your contribution.

What percentage of the funds will go towards the interns?
-100% of the funds will go towards paying the interns.
What is the age of the interns?
-14-21 years old.
How many students will you place as interns?
-With $23,000, we will be able to place 14 interns.
Why are you also having workshops?
-Financial literacy workshop is important to students - especially students of color. Teaching students how to manage their money will decrease the chance of them going into debt and making poor financial decisions in the future.
-Job Readiness workshop: each job site will submit bi-weekly evaluations for their interns. We will take those evaluations and tailor students' training base on what's on the evaluation.

How many years has this program existed?
-This is our first Job Readiness program. We offer this program free to students in our community, and we do not profit from this. So we need your help to raise the capital to stipend students.
