Help us share the bold, authentic flavors of Jamaica with Saskatchewan and beyond! We’re Jamaica Food Basket, a community-focused business offering authentic Jamaican meals and culture. Now, we are taking the next big step, launching a food truck to bring the vibrant taste of the Caribbean directly to your neighborhood. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, we make seasonings and sauces that elevate every meal, some of which are gluten-free, oil-free, and vegan.
Saskatchewan's food truck scene is growing, but no trucks are offering authentic Caribbean food. With the increasing demand for diverse and high-quality food options, particularly in the street food scene, we see a significant opportunity to serve both Caribbean cuisine enthusiasts and curious foodies across the province. With a mobile setup, we can reach food festivals, community events, and underserved areas, introducing the culture and cuisine to a wider audience.
The total cost of a fully equipped food truck that meets health and safety standards is CAD50,000.00. We are seeking CAD35,000.00 to help:
- Purchase and retrofit a food truck with all necessary equipment.
We will provide funding to:
- Brand the truck with Jamaica Food Basket’s logo and artwork.
- Stock the truck with high-quality ingredients to provide fresh, authentic Jamaican cuisine.
- Cover initial operational costs (licenses, permits, fuel, etc.) so we can hit the road as soon as the truck is purchased.

Jamaica Food Basket on Wheels is our vision to bring authentic Jamaican cuisine to communities across Saskatchewan via a fully equipped food truck. We want to offer healthy, delicious, fresh, and flavorful dishes on the go, making it easier for people to enjoy island flavours at festivals, events, and different towns throughout Saskatchewan.
2. How will my contribution help?
Your contribution will directly fund the purchase and retrofitting of our food truck. The funds will also help us with branding, stocking high-quality ingredients, and covering initial operational costs like licenses, permits, and fuel. Every dollar brings us closer to our goal of making Jamaican cuisine mobile and accessible to more people.
3. What kinds of food will the truck serve?
Our food truck will serve a variety of authentic Jamaican and Caribbean dishes, including jerk chicken, jerk pork, curry goat, oxtail, fried chicken, rice and peas, and festival (fried dough), homemade juices, homemade seasoning and sauces. We will also offer vegan and vegetarian options, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the rich, vibrant flavours of the islands.
4. When will the food truck launch?
Once we reach our funding goal and the truck is fully retrofitted and stocked, we plan to launch Spring 2025 in time for the festivals/events season. We will keep all backers updated on our progress and timeline with regular behind-the-scenes updates.
5. Where will the food truck be located?
The food truck will be mobile and travel across Saskatchewan, visiting food festivals, community events, and local neighbourhoods. We will post regular updates on our social media pages to let everyone know where we will be located each week.
6. Will there be any special rewards for campaign backers?
Yes! All backers will receive rewards based on their donation level, such as personalized thank-you shout-outs, discount vouchers for meals, invitations to our launch event, and more. We want to show our appreciation for everyone who helps make Jamaica Food Basket on Wheels a reality.
