Project Description

Ipade is styled after Ìpàdé (ee-pah-day) - a word from the West African Yoruba language that conveys a sense of gathering and coming together. It’s important for Black, Indigenous, and womxn of color (cis, trans, and nonbinary) who are working for justice, equality, and positive social change to be able to gather and grow.

We need programming that caters to our personal growth and professional goals. Unfortunately, many spaces aren't truly welcoming to us. They don't cater to our unique needs because they are either unwilling to or they can’t. But Ipade can!

Ipade meets the needs of Black, Indigenous, and womxn of color by cultivating community and providing high- impact programming designed for us by us. We bring together activists, advocates, innovators, and creators to build skills, resilience, and power to disrupt the status quo, dismantle systems of oppression, and transform society for the good of our communities. We do that by providing member-driven workshops, events, and content in safe spaces that center Black and Brown womxn.

Faced with race, gender, economic, and other forms of oppression, Black and Brown womxn find support and success in community with like-minded people. Members of the Ipade community are go-getters, changemakers, visionaries, and innovators. They are social entrepreneurs, movement leaders, and creatives who are passionate about dismantling systems of oppression, doing good, and leaving their mark on the world. Ipadé is a safe space designed for them.

Ipade is committed to changing the lives of the change makers so they have the knowledge, community, resources, and support they need to disrupt the status quo and cause social change. When we invest in womxn of color, we transform the world.

Join us!

Ipade launched in April 2020 with virtual programming to immediately provide safe space for Black and Brown womxn to be in community with each other and get the support they need. We are also providing content to bolster changemakers in the fight against racism and systemic violence affecting Black and Brown people.

We’re now accepting virtual memberships! As a member you will have access to an inclusive community of like-minded womxn and specially curated workshops, events, and content. You will also be able to contribute to Ipade’s early growth.

Here’s what’s included in your new virtual membership:

  • Weekly members-only opportunities to connect and co-work with like-minded womxn of color in your city and across the US
  • Workshops and events designed by womxn of color to help you learn new skills, increase your resilience, pursue your passions, and step into your purpose
  • Intimate conversations with womxn of color leaders, innovators, and creatives
  • Curated resources to help you tap into your power and accomplish your goals

Ipade is committed to utilizing the services of people of color-owned, womxn-owned, and socially conscious businesses, compensating contributors fairly for their work, and offering the virtual membership at an affordable rate.

With the funds we raise through this campaign, we will:

  • Build a digital home for Black and Brown womxn changemakers, innovators, and leaders
  • Ensure we have necessary technological infrastructure to keep us connected and informed
  • Compensate Black, Indigenous, and womxn of color fairly to create content, share their expertise, provide instruction, and grow the community
  • Secure a brick and mortar space in the heart of Washington, DC to open in early 2021

With your support, we can achieve our mission while advancing economic justice, supporting people of color-owned businesses, and meeting the needs of Black, Indigenous, and womxn of color right now as we build our collective future.

At Ipade, we value people of color-led entrepreneurship, economic justice, sustainability, and self-determination for people of color. The best way we can live out those values is by raising funds to continue to do our work and by utilizing a community-focused approach to do it. That’s why we’ve chosen crowdfunding as a first step to help us grow. Your financial support will help us be responsive to the Ipade community's needs during this critical moment and secure our first physical space.

Thank you for your contribution!
