Project Description
- Mission: uplifting diverse voices telling the stories THEY want to.
- Problem we're solving: most existing publishers force BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other diverse authors to write ABOUT their identities in (often traumatic) issue books
- How we're solving the problem: We will publish books by diverse authors but not pigeon-hole them in what story they CAN tell
- Market Size: According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 44,240 writers/authors in the USA in 2020. Only 11% of 2018's NYT Bestsellers were by BIPOC individuals so one can only imagine the number of underserved writers out there. In 2021, book publishing made $825.75 million (https://www.statista.com/statistics/422595/print-book-sales-usa/), which means there are many readers who would be willing to read these books.

- All funds raised here will be used to raise money for the first author advances so we can start publishing books.
- Every little bit counts and your money will allow us to uplift a diverse voice that might not otherwise be championed by the current, super- cis, white, and straight publishing landscape.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Where will my money go? To paying the authors we will publish. A $20k advance is a respectable amount for a debut author and many BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ authors are lucky to make $1.5k on their first book. But we believe all authors should be given the same support as white authors in the same genres
- When will the books be published? Traditional publishing normally takes 2 years. But as a small start-up our time table will be shorter. We are aiming for 1 year from the acquisition of every manuscript, if not faster.
