Incorp[HER]ated
Reimagining women's role in sports and creative industry landscapes
Project Description
Underrepresentation of women, especially women of color, across the full spectrum of creative careers in -- sports, sneakers, music and more is a pervasive issue.
It’s illustrated by a ubiquitously evident gap between the communities inspiring what’s being created and the industry that’s profiting. It impacts everything from how these industries cater to us, to the future kids can picture for themselves.
Incorp[HER]ated is a diversity and inclusion agency founded to address this representation gap in creative industries
While working in the sneaker industry alongside a community of creatives, co-founders Khiana and Brittany recognized that the decision makers did not represent the culture.
Our work addresses the gap both in the pipeline to the industry and in the industry
Our work is centered on youth and community engagement
We work with partners in our network to coordinate hands-on workshops that give students opportunities to explore the work happening in different creative industries.
We support young professionals in our community by connecting our network and creating opportunities for personal and professional development -- from how to pitch yourself to defining your journey to success.
All of our programming is free for attendees because as warriors for increased access and representation, it's against our mission to have barriers of entry.
We are raising funds to expand our impact
In the three years since we’ve started, our network has grown to over fifteen hundred designers, strategists, writers, and entrepreneurs and our work has impacted hundreds of students. Our platform continuously places women at the forefront of the conversation and has served as a launchpad for new careers, mentorship connections, and professional opportunities.
We’re eager to expand our reach even further. Our campaign is raising money to expand our programming to provide even more workshops for students and interactive experiences for professionals. Additionally, it’s important to us to make sure that we compensate our team not at minimum industry standards, but at the level that they deserve.
Your support will go towards:
Securing event venues
Transportation and supplies for students
Honorarium for speakers
Payment for freelancers we work with
Your contribution is enabling us to have a greater impact increasing representation and closing the opportunity gap for women in sport and creative industries. Representation matters. The best products come from inclusive inputs. Thank you for your support in making this happen, it makes all the difference! We're excited to have you join our network of change.

The Campaign FAQs
What do your workshops look like?
How do you find students?
We've developed relationships with a number of youth organizations in the New York City area who we partner with for our programming. We leverage the interests of the students at each organization when aligning them to programs and opportunities.
How do you find partners?
All of our partnerships and sponsorships have been built through connections within our network. We've used social media and mutual connections to build our partnership and sponsorship network based on our mission, program objective, and the mission/initiatives of those partners. We're continuously looking to build new relationships and exploring new partnership opportunities.
Why did you start Incorp[HER]ated?
It was hard for us to find a community of women within sneakers and we wanted to change that reality. We knew there were women making impacts in all areas of the industry, but they weren’t the ones getting the recognition. We created Incorp[HER]ated to make space for women — our voices, our accomplishments, and our goals for the future of the industry. We wanted to showcase all the areas of opportunity that the industry held to the next generation of leaders, and bring men and boys into our conversations as allies and learners.
Since initiation, we have stayed grounded within sneakers, but have expanded our focus into other creative industries like music, fashion, and technology. For us, it’s all about supporting our community and building our network while empowering women, inspiring the next generation of men and women, and illustrating the importance of diversity, inclusion, and true allyship. We aim to bridge the gap between community and representation, supporting those communities and removing barriers in the process.
Can men come to your programming?
Yes! One of our core operating pillars is "illustrating the importance of diversity, inclusion, and true allyship." We believe that in order to make the changes that need to happen, we need support from everyone. It's been impactful to have men join our conversations because it's a chance to hear what the problem is and learn actionable ways they can combat the present reality.
What is your long-term vision?
Our ultimate goal is to be a sustainable business with a dedicated, full-time team of women and men that operates both in-house youth engagement and community development programming, and consulting projects to create authentic programs and inclusive strategies for working with youth and underrepresented populations.
We want to develop strong partnerships with non-profit organizations, youth organizations, and be a go-to agency for companies/brands’ inclusion and outreach initiatives.
Do you only work in NYC?
Currently, all of our core programming is based in NYC. We have worked on offsite programs when the opportunity arises, and are open to continuing to expand as we scale!
