I Made An Album During The Pandemic
This campaign is to help a queer Black Artist from a small town, fund her first ever full length album along with hosting a virtual show.
Project Description
Hey Y’all!
Tamira and I have been working on this album for over a year, and we are so excited that we’re almost at the finish line. I remember when we first started making Chrysalis. We made this album at the beginning of 2020 remotely; so Tamira would send me beats and I’d send a song (or three) back. I was a senior in high school at the time so I'd spend most nights up late in my room writing songs, then I’d spend the mornings slightly regretting my sleeping patterns.
Since then I’ve graduated, and while in the beginning stages of this album I just wanted it to talk about my growth as a young woman. I soon realized that this album was a lot more than solely that. It was about me proving to myself that I was worth betting on. Like most young Black women growing up, I’ve constantly been told what I could and couldn’t be. Chrysalis to me was the opportunity to show myself and the world who I really am. Battle scars and all.
This campaign fund won’t just be used to help broaden our audience through the use of the press. It’ll also be used to help us create freely and hopefully inspire other young black queer creatives, who like Tamira and myself are still finding their voice. We hope that through the vulnerability of this album and our overall creations we will be able to make an impact on music and culture. Creating safe spaces for creatives (especially black and queer creatives) has been, and will always be important to me. With this fund, we’ll be able to employ other creatives through our projects as well. The Chrysalis Virtual show alone will employ an array of musicians, photographers, videographers, etc.
While our goal of at least 8,000 will go towards all things Chrysalis (marketing, music distribution, promotion, videography, purchasing and distributing merchandise, building a website etc.) if we raise more, I’ll be able to fund my other music projects too! For example, if we were to raise 8,500 that's mixing and mastering a single. 9,000 that's a single and a music video. 10,000 or more and I’ll be able to release and possibly promote an EP on top of Chrysalis.

Indeed! You can select multiple items and add them to your cart.
I just want to contribute, and not purchase a reward. What should I do?
At the top of the rewards page, the first reward listed is Monetary Option. Select this reward, type in the amount you'd like to contribute, and that amount will be added to the fund.
I want a certain reward, but I'd like to contribute more than the reward price. What should I do?
First, select the reward you would like to purchase, and then select the "Monetary Option" reward and fill in the additional amount you would like to contribute.
What types of payment do you accept?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, etc. Please let me know if you need an alternate payment method (Like Venmo or Cashapp). We can work something out!

When will your album be released?
I’ve already released two lead singles (crush and OVER IT) therefore, I plan for Chrysalis to be released no later than the end of winter.
Why $8,000?
Creating music is the easy part, getting that music in front of an audience is the hard part. This fund will be used to market/promote the album, which includes: building a website, purchasing and distributing Chrysalis merchandise, copyrighting my music, filming a music video, and most importantly putting on a full headlining concert that will employ other creatives (photographers, musicians, videographers, etc.)
