Project Description
Our goal at Olde Whitesville is to offer a space for small intimate gatherings where friends and family can come together for quality time spent together. We fell in love with the building the moment we saw it and we want to be able to share this unique space with the community.
We coincidently came across the church for sale and could not believe such a beautiful historic piece of property was available for purchase. We were heartbroken to find out that the church had been vacant for years and was starting to deteriorate secondary to this. We made it our mission to save the church and give it new life as an event venue.
We hope to serve the Harris County area as well as surrounding cities like LaGrange, West Point, Columbus, Phenix City, and Auburn.
We are seeking funding to help with the restoration of the 165+ year old building. The two biggest jobs needing to be completed at this time are replacing the HVAC unit and creating a parking lot for the venue.
The team at Olde Whitesville is myself and my husband. We have spent the last year restoring the space and bringing it up to code. We have made the space ADA compliant and are so proud of our progress, but we have so much more to do.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Are there any restrictions in regard to restoration since the venue is a national historic landmark?
There are no restrictions as we have not received government funding. When you receive government funding to restore a historic property there are certain restrictions you have to follow but these do not apply to us. However, we want to preserve the venue's history and have no intentions of making any drastic changes to the building.
2. What type of events do you want to host?
Our vision is to host any small event needed. We have already hosted baby showers, birthday parties, paint nights, weddings, and an open/house fall festival. We see the space being used for tutorials and milestone events. We want people to continue to use this amazing space that has been in our community for almost 170 years.
3. What is your occupancy load?
Our occupancy load is 80 people.
4. Where is parking?
Our current parking area is across the street in a vacant lot. Our goal is to create a parking area behind the church in the future. Funding will help us make that goal a reality.
