Project Description
I am Dr. Delondria Hines, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and founder of Healing & Wellness Counseling Services, PLLC. Our mission is to provide accessible, trauma-informed mental health care to individuals and families who are often overlooked—especially those with Medicaid, high insurance deductibles, or limited income. We believe everyone deserves care, not just those who can afford it.
Mental health care is out of reach for too many. Long waitlists, high costs, and insurance limitations leave thousands without support. Our practice steps in to close that gap by offering affordable telehealth therapy, subscription-based sliding scale options, and pro bono services when needed. We also train and supervise interns and new professionals, creating a pipeline of future therapists who reflect and serve our communities.
The need is real and growing. In North Carolina and Virginia alone, tens of thousands of adults report unmet mental health needs each year. Our small practice already serves 25 to 35 clients per week—but we are stretched thin. I often do not take a paycheck just to make sure my team gets paid. We have never had over $50,000 in the business account, and without additional funding, we are at risk of closing a service that many people depend on.
This funding will help us:
Cover overdue and upcoming payroll, including the owner's unpaid salary
Hire part-time billing and administrative support to reduce workload
Maintain telehealth and EHR software
Support our intern program with small stipends
Cover rent, insurance, and other core expenses
Create a cash buffer to weather delayed insurance reimbursements
Our team includes five dedicated professionals—therapists and interns—who believe deeply in the healing work we do. I lead the practice while also managing client care, supervision, and operations.

2. Is my donation tax-deductible?
No. Healing & Wellness Counseling Services is a for-profit business, so contributions to this campaign are not tax-deductible. However, your support directly sustains a mission-driven business serving underserved communities.
3. How are you making therapy accessible?
We offer sliding scale subscription packages, pro bono services for those with high deductibles, and accept Medicaid. We also train interns and supervise early-career counselors to increase service capacity.
4. Why are you asking for funding if your business is four years old?
While we have been operating for four years, the financial strain of providing low-cost therapy and covering expenses without consistent support has created a serious risk of burnout and closure. This funding will stabilize the practice and allow us to continue serving clients long-term.
