My name is Petra, and I am the founder of Petra’s Beauty Club, an inclusive and Black centered protective style salon in Los Angeles. I was born and raised in Cameroon, where I started working in a salon at just eight years old. What began as sweeping floors turned into a lifelong passion. By the time I was ten, I was braiding full heads of hair, learning firsthand how sacred and powerful our hair traditions are.

Petra’s Beauty Club is more than a salon. It is a space that honors the legacy of Black hair care. We specialize in high-quality protective styles like knotless braids, twists, and locs, all done in a clean and welcoming environment where our clients feel respected and seen. Our tag team braiding system is inspired by African salon culture, where collaboration is the norm. Instead of sitting for twelve hours, our clients are in and out in six to eight hours, without compromising on quality or care.

Since opening our doors in 2021, we have proudly served hundreds of students, professionals, moms, and creatives with afro-textured hair. But like many small businesses in Los Angeles, we were recently impacted by the LA fires. The air quality alerts and city shutdowns caused a sharp drop in appointments, affecting our ability to cover basic expenses like rent, payroll, and supplies.

This campaign is not just about recovery. It is about growth. With your support, we will stabilize operations, bring in more talented stylists, upgrade our tools, and keep building a space that uplifts our community and protects our hair traditions.
