In our fast-paced, digital-first world, genuine appreciation often gets lost in the noise and sometimes don't even make it out of our mouths because we're too afraid to say positive things. Studies have shown we are too afraid to give compliments because of self-doubt. At Joydrop, we're breaking down the barriers of practicing personal and community joyfulness.

Social platforms focus on likes and follows, while workplace tools prioritize productivity and work contributions over personal connection. There’s a gap when it comes to meaningful recognition—whether in personal relationships, communities, or professional spaces. People want to feel valued, but there isn’t an easy or engaging way to consistently express appreciation for being human in everyday life in a way that sticks.

What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem: Joydrop is a community recognition platform designed for everyone—whether you want to celebrate a colleague, thank a friend, or simply brighten someone’s day. Unlike traditional corporate recognition programs that are limited to workplaces, Joydrop is open, flexible, and engaging. Our platform allows users to send "dots"—a fun and rewarding way to acknowledge and appreciate others. These dots can be exchanged for rewards or donated to a cause, creating a ripple effect of kindness and motivation to be present and to connect. With future AR integrations and physical materials planned, Joydrop will bring appreciation into the real world in ways never seen before.

Beyond corporate environments, people crave deeper, more meaningful digital interactions—something the broader social networking space (over 4.5 billion users globally) has yet to fully embrace. Joydrop taps into both markets by creating a fun, rewarding, and universal way to share gratitude, both professionally and personally.

Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?
We’re seeking funding to bring Joydrop to life in the most impactful way possible. Your support will help us:

• Develop the Joydrop app – Enhancing the user experience and ensuring seamless engagement. This is the big one ;) 

  A clickable prototype will be completed end of April and we have amazing team ready to develop and with your help we can get going.

Why are you doing this: I went through a tough period after being let go from a previous job, and what helped pull me out of that funk was observing the simple, joyful interactions happening around me. Those moments reminded me of the power of human connection. That experience lit a spark in me—I felt a deep desire to pay it forward by creating something meaningful that could uplift others.

I’ve seen how deeply social isolation can affect people, and I want to do my part to spread compassion, connection, and genuine joy. Fostering a positive, kind, and supportive culture has always been something I’ve believed in—it’s who I am.

At the heart of it all, I just truly care.

About Dina: Hi, I’m Dina — an auditor by training, an entrepreneur at heart, and a storyteller in everything I do. Professionally, I lead Internal and SOX audits, where I help companies navigate risk, build trust, and operate with integrity. My favorite part of the job is uncovering the unseen — the systems, people, and processes that quietly keep things running.

I am also an entrepreneur and author. My work in audit inspired me to write Addy the Auditor, a children’s book that celebrates hidden jobs and makes the world of work fun and relatable for kids (and adults). I’m also the founder of Joydrop, a platform that turns appreciation into connection, and supporting partner in growing Purely Drinks, a gut-friendly beverage brand rooted in rituals and joy.

I believe the best ideas often live at the intersection of strategy and creativity. Whether I’m designing a control framework or developing a brand, I try to lead with kindness, clarity, and a sense of fun. Outside of work, I’m usually chasing after my little ones, dreaming up big ideas, or enjoying the perfect cup of tea and book.
