True to Us is an online platform holding space for Black and Brown women looking to see themselves in the streetwear and sneaker industry created by Jourdan Ash.
True to Us has grown so much and so fast within its almost three years as a platform. In our short time, we have been featured as Complex's Brands to Watch, Forbes, Hypebeast, BronxNet, Coveteur, and much more. We have had a number of events supporting the community such as givebacks at local community fridges for the holidays, volunteering, sneaker drives, back to school drives, and much more.
Since 2020, True to Us has been 100% self-funded. But, there are so many things we want to accomplish and so many ways we want to continue to show up for our community this year that require more than what I can provide. As a team of one (with an amazing support system), it's become hard to manage everything — from social media, inventory, photoshoots, collaborations, and much more — by myself.
Through this campaign, we are looking to:
- Expand (and support) our growing team.
- Create more free and inclusive events for our audience — both online and in-person.
- Raise funding for our community based projects —such as The Community Fridge Project.
- Create quarterly grants for our TTU internships.
- Help fund our programming such as "Lunch +Learn" and our podcast "True to Us: Talks".
- TTU's studio fixes.
- Update our website.
