God's Promise Dementia Care, L.L.C. is created to offer a solution to a growing pandemic in this world. Not the current pandemic that is on everyone's tongue, but the pandemic that most families will face at least once. There is no vaccine to prevent it. The pandemic is dementia.
At God's Promise we are addressing this problem as it effects all families, no matter the nationality, race, creed or color. As a person of color, culturally, we handle dementia and the needs of cognitive changes and challenges differently. We do not readily open up about what is happening in our households. We do not open up about the changes we see with grandma, or grandpa or mom or dad. Inherently we do not trust 'just anyone' with caring for our loved one. We don't know what signs to look for or what they need so unfortunately, all too often, our loved ones and the family members involved go without the very helpful knowledge, and resources that would be most beneficial in the last golden years of their lives.
God's Promise Dementia Care, L.L.C. is here to bridge that gap and bring knowledge to everyone that is effected by dementia, not only people of color, but everyone.
The progression of dementia, most times, leads to increasing safety concerns and the person may no longer be able to live alone. Currently, care in Assisted Living or Personal Care Homes is not covered by insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. You know what that means...Out of Pocket is the only option to get into an Assisted Living or Personal Care Home. Which leads to our current situation which is that Assisted Living and Personal Care Home spaces are a money maker for a lot of folks. Some even refer to it as the 'silver tsunami'. There is an old saying that 'it takes money to make money' and that is very true. One thing about the tsunami reference is true, the need for education, direction, safe placement for the people that are suffering from this disease is growing exponentially.
At God's Promise Dementia Care we are here to offer an alternative to the pop up Assisted Livings and Personal Care Homes that are showing up everywhere. We have developed the home and family-centered care model.
This is personalized care in a secure residential setting, a house with individual, personal cognitive, physical and mental stimulation. There are no more than three people that require personal care needs in the house. Each resident is screened and placement is based on multiple levels of compatibility within the home. While we are not a clinical facility and do not provide medical care directly, as a Registered Nurse and a Certified Dementia Practitioner I will oversee the care needs of each and every resident. There will be a dementia trained staff member (who we refer to as 'family member') present 24 hours a days, 7 days per week. There will be fresh homecooked meals provided three times per day and the resident can eat at his or her leisure.
We are seeking funding to reach out and find our families that are in need of specialized dementia care; to facilitate marketing such mailers, advertisements, podcasts, social media outlets and much more. Also, we will use the funds to locate and secure our first house, and get it up and running with furniture and supplies as well as secure our staff, who we call our family. They will be prepared and trained to specialize in caring for people with dementia. Any support you provide will be tremendous and takes us one step closer to being able to open our doors and start helping!!! We can't thank you enough for you taking this action to support us in helping those suffering from this terrible disease.
With your support, the opportunity for God's Promise Dementia Care to grow is immeasurable and without limits!!
