🚨 The Problem We Are Solving 🚨

The U.S. is in the midst of a maternal healthcare crisis, with rising maternal mortality rates hitting women of color the hardest. Historically, midwives, especially African American midwives, have been demonized, leading to mistrust and gaps in culturally sensitive care. Male gynecologists, viewing midwifery as a degrading form of obstetrical care, pushed for its illegality. They saw themselves as elite members of a trained profession with tools such as forceps and the convenience of hospitals, further excluding Black and Indigenous women from their institutions. This history has resulted in a lack of social connectedness, unhealthy communities, and family planning processes that often happen in a vacuum. Many people also face the barrier of not knowing how to get these kinds of services covered by insurance if they don't have the money to pay out of pocket. Traditional healthcare often misses the mark in addressing the holistic needs of expectant mothers, causing stress, isolation, and poor health outcomes.

The Garden of Eden Wellness Center and Birthing Spa offers a transformative solution to the maternal healthcare crisis by integrating traditional and alternative medicine, culturally sensitive care, and robust community support. Our comprehensive services include holistic prenatal and postnatal care, hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and body treatments inspired by diverse global traditions including, but not limited to Korean bathhouses, African traditional healing, Ayurveda, and Chinese Traditional Medicine. • Labor and Delivery Options: Water births, non-water births in home-like suites, and various pain management options.
• Professional Support: 24/7 access to midwives and obstetricians, night nurses, and doulas.

Post-Natal Services

• Immediate Postpartum Care: Skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding support.
• Postpartum Recovery Services: Routine check-ups, traditional closing the bones ceremonies, postpartum massage therapy, and pelvic floor therapy.
