Project Description

Our Mission: To reverse economic inequality in rural counties by providing education, training, and job opportunities in advanced technology careers within agriculture

While roughly 50% of the US population live in rural counties with significant local agriculture, only 20% of US GDP is generated in these same counties.  This wide gap in economic opportunities is the root cause of many of the problems affecting rural counties today, including weak land conservation, low median wages, and extreme housing shortages in communities where tourism and recreation use have priced out low wage local workers, draining the very lifeblood of rural communities.

————————————————————

Solution: FutureRanch, an advanced agricultural production facility designed to generate five times the traditional revenues per acre of production, placing agricultural usage back within the most profitable uses of rural lands.

By investing in the right physical infrastructure, including alternative energy production and water storage and treatment, we can support a broader mix of agricultural activities simultaneously, including hydroponics, aquaponics, greenhouse and outdoor grow, leading to higher cumulative yields and greater biodiversity.

By building processing and packaging facilities onsite, the FutureRanch will produce finished goods that are tailored to the local market and can be sold directly to consumers at higher profits than a traditional distribution model reliant upon CSA’s, local farmers markets, and wholesale distribution.

By increasing yields, and profit margins, the FutureRanch provides significant job training and opportunities in the local market, which are largely technology driven high-skilled labor positions that pay significantly more than traditional agricultural employment.

And by extending the mission of training and education into community schools through an open-source, interactive, virtual model of the project, we are a conduit for contribution from technology innovators that are aimed at providing engagement with rural communities.
